opinions are not facts..therefore what you said is an oxymoron.....

    Not so fast there, grasshopper...

Terms falsely called oxymorons for rhetorical effect

Although a true oxymoron is "something that is surprisingly true, a paradox," Garry Wills has argued that modern usage has brought a common misunderstanding[4] that oxymoron is nearly synonymous with contradiction. The introduction of this usage, the opposite of its true meaning, has been credited to William F. Buckley.[5]

A fact is something that is true about a subject and can be tested or proven.
    Look for clues such as:
" 56% of...., or "The patient experienced..."

An opinion is what someone thinks about that subject.
Look for clues such as: "I believe...", "It's obvious...", or "They should..."

Most of us poor citizens on here trade around to get what we want....then get bored and trade for something else.I do have a few that will always be in the safe...Good luck to the ATF,CIA,ect.ect.ect. in proving we are making a "profit".

Wow, some of you make a brother think that maybe he shouldn't try to help someone out lest he get berated on the site for not giving up details of the atf encounter (which as g19 pointed out, isn't his place to do so). He did a good thing...passed along 1st hand information that may help one of us out down the road. I bet you'll remember this thread next time you sell something at the 1500 to a youngish looking person or try to flip a gun. Lighten up everyone. G19, stop arguing your point. These guys are going to continue to pile on. Thanks for the heads up - 1500 is coming up again soon, isn't guys? ;)

if a private dealer buys a gun, and sells it for a profit a hour later he obviously has no intentions of keeping it.

Not so. If I buy a gun for a decent price at a show, then get a little buyer's remorse, see something I want more, etc. and someone says, "what got? how much?" (as they always do), I would sell if the price is higher than what I paid. Who wouldn't?

The intent wasn't to make a profit at the outset, it just so happened I was lucky. One profitable quick sale can hardly be considered a pattern. If the feds can show that this scenario is repeated...

I fail to see how taking it home changes intent. Also, how do you catch someone doing this? You have to document both sales. So does the BATFE sell a bunch of firearms at low-ball prices and then follow the buyers to see if they resell for more? Or maybe they use a agent to try to buy it for more it hopes that the suspect is gullible/wise/greedy/entrepreneurial.

Now back to the show.

It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't happen so frequently, but since I've been on INGO for the last 2-3 years, I've sold maybe 6-7 handguns on the site and in every case at least once someone with a low post count comes along to tell me I can't sell it to someone who is 18. The response of most people to whom I reply that yes, I can, and then back that up with links to relevant threads on the group that cite the laws, respond with something like "I didn't know that." Perpetuating a myth is one thing. Getting defensive when you are told that you are perpetuating a myth is just silly. I'm not Don of Don't guns, I'm not going to sell a gun to someone who is shady, but I'm also not going to refuse to sell a gun to someone to whom I can otherwise legally sell it to if they don't ping my "shady character" radar. I've met far more "questionable" buyers who were in their 50s-60s than 18-21.

If it DID happen then we'd all like to know about it since it's pretty important information.
    ^ Again, THIS ^

    Glock19,
Without trying to 'pile on' I think this is why everyone is so excited.
It is black and white Indiana LAW that selling to an 18 year old person to person is fully legal.
And it is black and white Indiana Law that an 18 year old can possess a handgun.
If, in fact someone got into trouble for doing that and only that, that would have been harassment on the part of the ATF.
And it would make us all take a look at how we do business.
If the guy was flipping guns or something else shady, then no one would have gotten nearly as excited.

I understand what you are saying by drawing attention to yourself by advertising you are selling to an 18 year old but it's no different from selling to an old Geezer here in Indiana.
You just gotta quit saying "It's my OPINION." "It's my OPINION" and try to understand why people are excited.
If someone is getting arrested for doing something LEGAL, we are going to get excited.

Yep. I consider myself fairly well educated on the legalities involved and I don't just take someones word for it. I'm an active member on 2 Indiana gun boards and several national ones, something like that would be big news IMO, and if I somehow missed it I'd like to know.
