    Freedom , yes really Freedom
So heres the deal , i was saving up for a 50bmg. I shot a friends of mine (paid for his ammo) and got my "fix" and no longer interested. So i have moved on to my love for the 1911. I have looked at hundreds online and still deciding ......

I really really like a nice fullsize stainless colt 1911 in 45acp. I have also eye-balled the Kimber Custom Crimson Carry II (with crimson trace grips) ,..... i know of course neither of these are that costly ($1000-roughly) i would of course be able to afford a couple nice holsters/ammo etc with $ to spare ......used is not an issue with me , heck i almost prefer it to get out of Tax whenever possible :D

so here's my question to INGO , if you had $2000 to drop on a 1911 what would you do ?

I'd look for a safe queen Wilson, with an expectation to pay between $1600 and $1800. If it had to be new, I think Les Baer would be worth a look.

I would buy as many used RIA 1911s as I could. Quantity over quality. :):

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I don't know much about them, but Kimber's sure are pretty. That's pretty much the extent of my contribution.

For that kind of money, you could almost afford a shiny new Bushmaster. :D

Don't mind me, just eaves dropping for future reference.

I have a SA Range Officer. Around $800. I have not shot any of the custom guns, but I don't know how they could be any tighter or shoot any better groups than my Range Officer. I have over 4000 thousand rounds through mine and never a problem.

So is a $2000 1911 twice as good as a $1000 one? You might go with the Kimber or Colt and use the rest to get something else. Or how about one of each?
A Kimber or Colt from the custom shop ... sure... A production-line gun? No thanks.

It's out of your budget, but I sprung for a Wilson Combat myself.

I know it doesn't cost 2000 but i have had my eye on a Smith and Wesson 1911 in 9mm for a long time i have seen them go for anywhere between 1200 and 1500 but they are fairly rare thats what i would spend my money on if i had it to spend

Safe Queen Wilson would be my choice also.. I'm shopping for one at the moment myself.
