You wouldn't be allowed to CC. If you were to ride with me, and after I informed you of the department policy against carrying of firearms on ride-alongs you did so anyway, to say I would be unhappy would be a massive understatement.
Yes riders can, and do, go into jails and secure facilities. I have had riders go with me to Wishard holding and to the APC with OVWI suspects. We dont normally transport arrestees but OVWIs are an exception.

    Constitution trampler.

Typically yes, you just get hold of someone from the department (ie: go there and ask) and work out a time to ride. They will probably have you sign a waiver before you go and they'll probably run you for warrants. I can't speak for Frank, but if you wanted to ride with me, you'd just need to get hold of me and work out a time that's convenient for you and then meet me at roll call just before shift starts. You can ride the whole shift or just a few hours...it's really up to you.

    Same for me.

This reminds me that I need to call my dentist's husband. He invited me on a ride along recently and I misplaced his number.

I would also like to go on a ride along with Frank or VUPD sometime if that could be worked out. I'm not sure how you guys feel about someone you don't really know asking to do that. :dunno:

I get "stuck" with riders I have never met before pretty regularly. When Joe Citizen shows up and wants to ride, I'm normally the one who gets that duty....being the new guy and all...

When I was on East District I made the mistake of being the last one out of the building. My LT voluntold me I had a rider and no **** it was a midget. I was made fun of the entire night by police and citizens alike.

9:30pm until 6am. tonight is my last night to work this week then I go back Tuesday through Sunday.

I did a ride along with VUPD on this shift! Highly recommend. Have been on a couple with other INGO officers one on downtown district, went with a friend on North district, and with VUPD on West. Riding with VUPD was one of the more exciting/busier ride alongs.(north was right in the running though) Very informative and never a dull moment. Im sure Frank would be as well, but I haven't had the pleasure to ask and ride with him yet.

I'm not as high-speed as the rookie, but I still know how to do police work.

I would have paid serious money to have seen your face when you were introduced to your rider...that had to be PRICELESS!
