Someone with that name got a D felony DUI conviction in 2013 in Indy but got AMS, so it went down as an A misdemeanor. A similar D felony charge was dismissed.

Wow. A 2011 D felony DUI was dismissed by Hamilton County (Bardach's court). That's unusual.

Various other infractions and misdemeanors, but that name also has a 2004 D felony for poss. of marijuana (and misdemeanor DUI). If the 2004 possession also got AMS, then he would have had no felony convictions to deny him an LTCH. If it is the same guy.

Another example of why background checks are completely pointless.

I would love to run his name to find out but I don't know what alerts will be triggered if I do.

Run it on someone else's car computer? ;)

And yes, there is good stuff up there. Awesome museums for instance.

Just nothing worth the hassle and expense of dealing with that place.

And, I can almost always, and do, find an alternative within a day's drive.

Example: Chicago attraction - Shedd Aquarium.

    Non-Chicago alternatives:
Newport Aquarium (Cincinnati area, Newport, KY - closer for me than Chicago, YMMV)
    Tennessee Aquarium (Chattanooga)
    Ripley's Aquarium (Gatlinburg, TN)
    Georgia Aquarium (Atlanta)

All are very nice aquariums. The kid's don't know the difference. And my money stays out of Chicago.

Other places have good food. Other places have nice places to shop. Other places have museums. Etc.

For me, Chicago is only a last-resort-unavoidable destination.

I quite enjoy Chicago, or any mega American city. Might not want to live there, but love the sights and the history.

    Agreed on all counts!

I've yet to find an attraction in Chicago that was adequately compelling to make me go there again.

    Yep. Simple.

Starve that which you do not condone or want less of, feed that which you do condone or want more of.

You and me both. I find no reason to live in fear.

I just don't get the appeal. That's not fear. That's just a preference. I've been in every state of this country and in almost every major city at one time or another. I've seen great places, I've seen slums. I just prefer the wide open spaces like the southwest, Colorado, Montana etc.

    Amen.

My office used to be in San Francisco, I lived in a town adjacent to Oakland, I attended grad school in Berkeley, I spent a lot of time in the Los Angeles area for work, and I've been to Chicago and a few other places many times. I'm not going back to any of those places or anywhere that is like them. They suck.

Probably at least some of these are not the same guy. I believe the deceased was said to be 25. In 2004 he would have been 13?

    Where's the bacon?
You and me both. I find no reason to live in fear.

Nope. Not fear. It's kinda like the whole reason for the "No gun, no money" cards: You don't want me here, because I choose to go armed. I will grant you your wish, and not patronize your business. This, of course, means you don't get my money. Is my money enough to convince you to change your policy? No? OK, that's fine, but I'll be telling others, and maybe their money and mine together, all NOT in your pocket, will convince you.

That's the essence of the cards, when given to a business. I'm not giving Chicago a card. I'm just not going there. I said upthread that I don't want to pay their taxes and I don't want to be around that many people.

I grew up in a city of over a million people, but I've not lived there in a bunch of years, and today, I feel "squashed" when I go there. The only reasons I go there now are family events, as my mother and my sister still live there, as does one nephew. If we speak of "Cago" (look up THAT word in Spanish!) adding the fact that I am forced to choose either to be a voluntary target or a felon only gives me more reason to pass up the reduction of options to that point. I'll stay here in free America.

If others want to go there, that is their choice. I will wish you well, but I will not be sympathetic if you do end up a victim of either the street crime or the governmental theft. You knew what you were going into when you went there.

    Blessings,
    Bill

Yes he was 25 according to family. So im sure that its just a different person with same name.

Family members identified the man as 25-year-old Joshua Beal, a father of two young children who was in town from Indianapolis to be a pallbearer at his cousin's funeral.

Being that my son is a rabid Cubs fan I'd like to take him to a game at Wrigley some day. Other than that, having lived near there years ago, I've seen about all the attractions I care to see.
