Those stores are being rebanded, so I assume they are hiring new employees, don't know if the old ones were let go or they quit. Hire new employees at lower hourly starting wage vs. keep old employees with higher hourly wage.

At least in Ft Wayne, every employee I've asked was very clear that no one was out of a job. Just they (and I assume other stores) were chronically understaffed.

My local store(Avon)employees tell me they are staying AND getting raises?

Ft Wayne has a decent selection of used long arms again. Nothing to really scream about for a deal, but some stuff at ok prices. Apparently they got the inventory from Coldwater.

Was looking for some .45 for my Vector and the Greenwood had an ok deal on some Remington 230gr. $170 for 500.

the Evansville stores last day was Saturday everything was 90% off then they took more off of that!, I went about 5.30 after I got off work, everything was just about gone, and people were like vultures! one lady had 2 carts full of clothes all ugly, and odd sizes, she must have had a resale shop but I bought a purple Hogue handall grip(marked at 9.99), a magnetic fiber optic shot gun sight(no price), 4 bags of nitrile gloves (marked at 4.99 each), and 2 boxes of federal 6.8 spc ammo(marked at 17.99 each) they rang it all up, it came up to 24.99 then they discounted it more, and I ended up paying 1.25 after tax

I gave the sight and grip to my neighbor, (he gave me a quarter to pay for it), and I'll use the gloves when I clean my guns...now if I just had a 6.8 rifle I'd be ok

the ammo was picked over, all they had left was oddball stuff, like 364 Winchester and 300 wssm

Didn't seem like they had any great deals there at the end. I'll kind of miss them in Merrillville, though. I'd stop in to browse here and there, but no major purchases there.

I went in Gander Greenwood this morning. It's beginning to thin out pretty well.
My buddy there informed me that it most likely will be closing now. Plans were to keep it open but it seems there's a NEW lease to deal with and scuttlebutt is the new owners aren't going to pay that overhead.
It was decorated nice inside BUT now that inventory is thinning you get a glimpse of a pole barn.

Seems like if you owned a building you would want to keep it occupied. Jacking up the rent would only cut your own throat.

I was in Coldwater Mi. Gander two weeks ago on the way to vacation. They were posted "10 days left" and nearly empty. I only bought 2 little boxes of shot shells. I did not stop again on the way back.

Ft Wayne has really started to move things out. Not many used handguns left, while there are a couple racks of used long guns. I picked up a S&W 6946 mag for $18 today, so that was a plus, just not much left that is worth what they have on it. I picked up a S&W M&P (pre-model 10) revolver the other day, thats really nice, but that's about all I saw interesting. They had a Walther P1 sitting used today too.

Any chance they had a 1000 yard range finder left in stock - suddenly a need a new one. :(
