Ok, here is my :twocents: on what is going on.

I missed the show two (2) weeks ago, and got a late start on this last weeks episode, so I had to watch them and rewatch them twice as I caught part of last weeks before this last Sunday.

Rick keeps referring to "THE PLAN." He has said that over and over and over again.

At the beginning of this last episode everyone was reading the intel updates from the others. In his letter Rick referred, more than once, to "THE PLAN."

This means that, so far, EVERYTHING is going according to the PLAN! Everything.

Step back and think about this for a moment. He planned to go to the garbage dump people. He knew there would be one (1) of two (2) possible outcomes. Either they would betray Negan OR they would capture him. His being captured IS part of the PLAN. This could seem silly but I have a theory.

You know that if they capture you they probably won't kill you. You're the leader of the rebel force. So what will they do? They have several obvious choices. Choice #1 is to TAKE you to Negan. Choice #2 is for them to send word to Negan that they have you, and Negan will send a force to come get you. EITHER WAY a small force will be on the road to the other destination. There is probably only one (1) or two (2) obvious routes between Saviourland and The Dump.

So let me ask you a question. If you knew where and when a small enemy force was going to be what would YOU do? Hmmm....?

One of the most ancient military maneuvers is to divide and conquer. Either way it works Rick either divides garbage people and whacks them on the road, thus weakening them with NO significant risk to his people OR his people bushwhack whatever Negan sends, and again weakens the main enemy. In any of these scenarios Rick comes out on top.

Remember Carol telling King Ezekiel that he NEEDS TO FOLLOW THE PLAN and get more troops ready to go. Go for what?

Rick has tried twice to recruit the garbage dump people. They have said no twice, and yet they let him live. His third attempt will appear as simply stupid, when in reality it is appearing weak when you are strong.

Sun Tzu said, "If a general know what his troops can do he will win half of his battles. If a general knows what the enemy troops can do he will win half of his battles. But if a general knows what both his troops can do along with his enemies he will rule all under heaven." (paraphrased)

Rick knew how the garbage people would probably react. He is counting on it. He will rule all under heaven.

    At least, that's my theory.

    Regards,

    Doug

Or, maybe Rick just likes to be naked in Conex boxes.

Having watched Rick for umpty ump seasons have no strategy and poor tactics and have a baby during the zombie outbreak....planning may not be his thing.

To be fair that is Shane’s baby. Plus what’s wrong with getting naked at the dump? It works for the garbage pail chick.

I cut back on my tv package to save from $$$ and AMC is one of the channels I lost. This weekend they had AMC on preview and they did a season "catchup" marathon, so now I won't have to wait until it hits Neflix to watch the season up to now! Woo-hoo!

Let me help with the finale...

Get a bunch of your INGO buddies with ARs and RPGs together. Split the group in half. One half on one side of a car and the other half on the other side. They can alternate popping up from behind cover while yelling "Pew! Pew!" while somebody tosses fireworks poppers at both groups. You'll get the same quality of plot and special effects. You might need a guy with a Louisville slugger to beat the tired plot line to death. Maybe some homeless people to play the Garbagians?
