    .
You guys are a tough crowd.
I don't have studies or reports but I can tell you that I don't and will not have bumper stickers advertising anything on my vehicles and I can tell you why.

In California I was into scuba diving. When younger I would scrubbed the boats in the harbors, diving for fun, I was always in the ocean and ended up teaching classes through the years. Living there we had thieves that would target cars parked at the beaches up and down the coast with scuba stickers on them. They knew during certain hours the divers were out in the water and they didn't dive with their wallets, money, extra equipment, etc... When cars got hit parked inland, they got their scuba gear ripped off. This was always just a known thing and we warned our classes about it also. This was a regular thing in CA and from what I've been told it's a world wide thing in the diving community.
Similar MO with surfers and their vehicles.

Also in CA there was a rash of gun owners getting their homes burglarized during the daytime and guns were getting stolen. Numerous years, in different counties and with different crews that may or may not have known each other. Police said the perps followed them home from gun shows and gun shops from the common timelines of the victims. Imagine that, smartish badguys. It happens. This had nothing to do with bumper stickers but it makes you think.
If they want to target you, they will do just that. I just don't want to give them a reason to pick me.

Situational awareness. Head on a swivel.

    ...and then there's this...

If it has a religious sticker on it, it's going to do something stupid in the immediate future.
If it has a political sticker, it's not paying attention, and likely to road rage.
If it has school or stick figures, it's a soccer mom on a cell phone not paying attention to anything.
If it's a pickup truck with gun stickers, militia stickers, rebel flags, etc the driver is going to lane jam, cut off an brake check, try to race or all these.
They like to pick fights with vehicles...

Now, it's not just bumper stickers, it's memes on facebag, twaddle has twits, and none of it means a thing.
It's all brain diarrhea from people not articulate enough to get their point across any other way, and if it's a bumper sticker or facebag meme, it's not even their opinion since it came from someplace else...

I use it as an indicator of how self absorbed the person driving the vehicle in front of me is, the more stickers, the more self absorbed and the more likely they are to do something stupid/dangerous.
Since I do not believe I'm 'Special' or 'Privileged', I drive like I have some sense, I pay attention, use turn signals correctly, don't tailgate or cut people off, etc.
I don't have bumper stickers, no sense in advertising anything about me because I'm not 'Special'.

What do you find about people that tend to rant anonymously on forums blithely ignoring other's opinions and observations?

FWIW, the stereotypes you mention I can't and won't argue because they have a basis in fact as long as we keep in mind that they are not facts but statistics.

I dunno...bumper stickers seem a bit like "virtue signaling". Just my opinion.

I've got an American flag on my F150's back window and that's it...oh and a personalized NRA plate. The right people will know what it means if spotted.

It was the next best thing since they discontinued the TEAMSTERS plate.

My most recently acquired vehicle has dog stickers on the back window. I don't own a dog. My cats are not pleased.

My truck has a sticker that says "My Bling Goes Bang"...nobody has even commented on it. I wonder what that says.

I had a magnet that said Save the TaTa's. That one had a few comments but I don't recall any being negative.

    Actually, yes.
More than one study says criminals target vehicles with firearms stickers looking for guns.
Florida says that one in ten vehicles with firearms stickers produces a firearm.

A bumper sticker doesn't address issues, no room for debate, so it's a statement with no rebuttal.
    That's forcing an opinion...

Personally, I do a LOT of traveling, so I see a bunch of stickers.
So my observations are, (not for debate since these are MY observations),

If it has a religious sticker on it, it's going to do something stupid in the immediate future.
If it has a political sticker, it's not paying attention, and likely to road rage.
If it has school or stick figures, it's a soccer mom on a cell phone not paying attention to anything.
If it's a pickup truck with gun stickers, militia stickers, rebel flags, etc the driver is going to lane jam, cut off an brake check, try to race or all these.

It seems a little weird to me to take a firm position about bumper stickers. Like ‘em, get ‘em. Don’t like ‘em, don’t get one.

Goddamned humbucker-playing neanderthals. Play a Telecaster, the way God meant guitars to sound, or move back to Russia.

Oh, and stay offa my lawn.

I followed a semi the other day with truly opposing bumper stickers.

Left side was labeled "Passing Side"
    Right side was labeled "Suicide"

I must be in the wrong forum. Did I hit the Jerry Springer button? Oh well, everyone has an opinion right? Maybe some people just put bumper stickers on for the fun of it. Or they like the way they look. I avoid them mostly, but still have an NRA sticker on my old truck from like 15 years ago, and a Steal Armadillo sticker on my Jeep because I liked the way it looked. Seems odd that someone that hates to see opinions forced on others is so willing to force his on others.

When I got my truck, someone got me one that said: Yes this is my truck. No, I won't help you move.

I was talking to DoggyMama the other day, about someday replacing my truck. I'm thinking I may have to rent a storage garage to keep it in and not let anyone know I have it. "Truck? Nope. USED to have one..." :):
