Perfection? I do not Knock the President. I do not think the lesser of two evils is a statement that anyone, except you, could take to mean perfection.

If I could not support someone who is not perfect, when he is right, I would never be able to support anyone who was not a democrat of color.

So apparently he didn't lose any clout over bumpstocks. You'd think even the true believers would see that as a knock his perfection :dunno:

Most of us are talking about the border situation and the resulting government shutdown. Not the president's "perfection". Why are you deflecting?

I wonder if they will run some segments on how a bloated, confiscatory, leviathan state negatively impacts and distorts the economy.

..... formerly near the Wild Turkey

From the linked article: "The firm came up with these figures by looking at costs related to the shutdown including lost productivity by furloughed workers"

LOL. Is there a product that furloughed .gov workers produce that I will miss, or notice the "lost productivity"? I know there must be, with 800,000 not working, I just can't think of any off the top of my head.

Some say the federal government is a necessary evil.
    They are half right.
    It isn't necessary.

I think you're right. Let California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas build their own darn wall. If we in Indiana want to keep out migrants, maybe we should build a wall on our own border.

How is that deflecting? Another poster commented that because of Trump standing firm on this wall issue, his popularity would be as popular as ever. I brought up the bumpstock issue, which apparently has been forgotten, as one possible reason why his popularity shouldn't be at its highest levels. Addressing a statement, and explaining "why" that statement problematic isn't deflecting.

OK. I read your posts and have to say I share in your loathing of big brother. I have stated I view it in its current state as a cancerous tumor sucking the life out of us.
    In this we agree.

Now, serious question.......how would you replace them. And with what...???

I do not think replacement is necessary.

The Federal government needs to be reigned in to its Constitutional boundaries.

The extra-Constitutional departments should be given to the States.

The 16th Amendment needs to be repealed, the IRS disbanded and the States directly support the Fed Government.

Many other things, Rambone posted a list once and I agreed with most of it.

Reigned in is a good start. But total elimination is not something that will happen. There would still be national issues. Military. Infrastructure. Just to scratch the surface.

You are absolutely correct, that is all covered in the Constitution.

Infrastructure is a military necessity. Roads, rail and air are all needed for transport of men and material for national defense.

Something that most do not understand is that West Point was primarily an engineering school where Officers Learned to design and supervise the building of fortifications for national defense.

They could easily use the Corps of Engineers to complete the southern wall. It wouldn't even take a declaration of a national emergency.

This is why those people want to step round the constitution.
