Wow. Been a while since this was bumped.

I’ve hung up my crossfit shoes for a while. Trying orange theory. I like the group fitness mentality. I like the HIIT format and the higher focus on cardio. And my body doesn’t hurt afterwards.

i have a busy day today but I actually set an alarm for 5am and did the 6am class. Woah.

Where ever my GPS says I am
I think I posted back in November that I started going to the gym after I lost my job. I started with just cardio stuff for many months (bicycle and treadmill) but someone suggested start doing weight machines also. While it was a foreign land to me, I did last month. My wife went on maternity leave this week so I went to the gym both Saturday and Sunday. I tried to do cardio only stuff yesterday but after only a mile on the bike, I lost interest and went back to weight machines. I have select machines I use there but Saturday I added the smith machines at planet fitness doing the bench press. My ultimate goal is not weight loss but to get more healthy but would be awesome to see some pounds off next time I go to the doctor in June or July for my annual appointment. Just wish someone was going with me, but most of my friends that go do so during the day. I go at 9pm at night.

for cardio it helps me to have a program I'm doing. Lots of apps out there that tell you when to do what, for HIIT style cardio workouts. That may be better than just getting on a bike and riding

My new goal is to get 1 million meters on my rowing machine and BikeErg. I really really want a 1 million meter shirt from Concept2.

So I’m hoping to average 5000 meters a day on the rower, and 10,000 on the BikeErg. Not necessarily both on the same day.

That is a lofty and worthy goal!

I'm still working out in my garage gym with my wife. Doing squat, deadlift, bench and overhead press. I have been increasing 5lbs per workout but I'm getting close to topping out so I will be changing up the program and will add some additional movements.

You can log your meters into the Concept2 logbook, which is on their site. I use their ErgData app.

You can also compare your stats to everyone else all over the world. FYI, I suck.
Once you hit a Million meters on whatever Erg, Concept2 will send you a pin and a t-shirt. I think you get a sweatshirt if you hit 5 million?

Ran my first Spartan race, a super, down in Jax this past weekend. Time could’ve been faster but ran with my BiL, who needs to work on his cardio.

Running 3 times a week and back at Rock climbing now for 1.5 years allowed me to do a lot of the obstacles no prob.... but being a buck fifty made some of the lifting (atlas stones and tire flip) a bit difficult, but not impossible.

I was an RO at this weekend's Heartbreak 2019 Run-n-Gun. Ankle is almost ready to go but decided to not run the treacherous course through the woods (over 7.5 miles!!!). I only ran the 6 individual shooting stages. I managed to get in over 13,000 steps and 15 flights of elevation on RO day. I hope to get in at least one competitive RnG this year.

Here's some of the raw unedited video if anyone would like to give this sport a try.

Left foot seized up hard on treadmill on Friday. Plantar fascitis, very bad.

Saturday I was in a meeting all day, but Sunday I went rucking in the wind, 6 miles. I willed my left foot to work but I still had the "flat foot" walk for all 6 miles.

Monday I was told about a cross legged stretch that worked for a buddy of mine that runs. You cross your right leg over your left as far as you can and bend your knees. This stretches the heel and the bottom of the foot.

It worked very well. You cannot just do it once but several times during the day. By 6PM when martial arts training began, I had no pain.

I've tought about getting a plate carrier but plates are not that heavy.
I guess it depends on the size, thickness, material etc.

I have a 20lb vest. Have not used it since my afib.

If i watch myself for a day I should get under 250. Would be first time in two years and that is only because I had horrible mouth ulcers for six weeks. Orange theory is a big part of that but i’m Also eating a lot less and choosing better options. We’re eating out less too. It’s amazing how much easier burpees are without 15 pounds

    Good job Doc!

Learning how to cook, and cooking healthy things at home instead of eating junk food outside is probably the best thing you can do do lose weight.

I do pullups and chin ups with the weighted 36 pounds bag until I can't do anymore. Then drop the bag and I can do a few more.

Hah, no... I had a 40.... now 20lb belt around my waist though. It made pull ups and burpees challenging

oh, and I hit 249.8 just now thanks to a morning constitutional. Last fall I think I maxed at 269.X after a vacation
