Del Shannon covering his own song? That’s not how that works. He made a new recording in ‘86 for the show. Original artist, therefore not a cover.
Hmmm. Del Shannon was 36 when he released "Runaway" in 1960. So, 20 years later, you're saying that's not a cover.

If the Shangri-La's got together tomorrow and recorded "Leader of the Pack"....is that a re-issue of a 1964 Classic, or is it a "new" song.
The inhouse lawyer is sayin' that Del Shannon's 1986 recording of "Runaway" makes it a new song and therefore, he can't possibly be a boomer.

I stand corrected. Mea culpa. In my defense, it was unrecognizable to me, having grown up with the original.
All I said is 2 things:
1) I learned about "Runaway" from the intro to Crime Story in 1986, and
2) Del Shannon recorded the version of "Runaway" used for the intro. By definition, a recording by the original artist is not a cover.
My values and comportment would place me closer to "The Silent Generation" (of which my parents were and are members) rather than the Boomer generation.
Heck, I see all those Boomers memeing about "Keep you hands off my Social Security" and Millenials trying to go full socialist and I realize that if these 2 generations ever realize how much they have in common, the rest of us are screwed.
