I'm in sales, and this virus nightmare has affected business heavily. The good thing is that compared to our competitors, my little outfit is in very good shape with regards to inventory. Basically, I'm in a position now where I could take advantage of my customers if I chose to, but I refuse to even entertain that thought. Of course my companies prices are going to fluctuate based on supply and demand, but to try and make a quick buck by using a completely outrageous pricing strategy is wrong. People remember things like that. The loss of trust and goodwill simply isn't worth the extra dollars I could make. I don't just want a customer today; I want to sell to them next year, the year after that, and so on.

Why don't you take a pay cut to help the company out? Why don't you LOWER prices to help your customers who might be struggling? Is it because... you're greedy?

I'm trying to understand why in the middle of all this crazy, people take time to bash a gun supply retailer? What is the trigger that sets so many of you off? Even after the economics of the situation are explained, the freedom aspect of a private company doing what they want, the bashing continues. What are they doing that creates such a visceral reaction?

CTD just sucks. Pricing sucks. Customer service sucks. Supply chain sucks. I could go on but I think you understand what I am saying. More than a few of us have had enough bad experiences with those people that we will no longer entertain doing any business with them. At all.

I've bought from CTD, but not at panic pricing. Sometimes they have good stuff at good prices, same as any other retailer. I can't comment on their customer service, as I've never had a problem with an order. I know, my story is just as anecdotal as yours. ;)

It's probably the people who didn't stock up when prices were low that are complaining. Now that they're in panic mode, they notice the prices because they're shopping. Why else would the even know what the price is?

I'm stocked up on ammo. If someone wanted me to sell some of mine, I could do it and not even miss it. But how much would I sell it for? My cost? Why would I do that, when I couldn't even replenish my supply at my original cost? No, I'd have to have some incentive to sell it. The time and effort I've expended to stockpile and store it is worth something. The time and effort required to sell it is worth something.

If you didn't prepare, you're going to have to pay or do without.

We all have our experiences. I had issues with them selling things as in stock and it was not. 3rd party suppliers not unlike Sportsman warehouse started doing and the shipping/supply train was horrible. I stopped using both of them. Just my personal experiences and also what I understand others I trust to have experienced.
    Nothing more.

Bless me father, for I have sinned. I too didn't purchase anything from CTD right after Sandyhook. Not sure if I did before for that matter... Anyhow, a few years later, they had Greek surplus, boxer primed reloadable brass .303 Brit for a price that would let me shoot my Enfields almost as cheaply as shooting my Mosins. I was weak, and ordered 3 cases. May God have mercy on my soul.

I'm pretty sure the majority of the sponsors that we lost were non paying sponsors.

Really? Then why were they listed as sponsors? Regardless, that was part of the attraction here, seeing the specials and in-stock items listed. I still do business with them, because of their former presence here.

I wouldn't think that a moderator would consider it prudent to bash any retailer. Leave that to us rabble. :):

It is kind of funny seeing a moderator bashing a retailer when the site has lost so many site sponsors over the last few years. :)

Funny how? Funny that a contributing member of this forum takes issue with how a company has a history of not living up to it's name?

Administrators administer, coaches coach, managers manage, owners own. Moderators moderate, in other words herd the cats and try to keep **** from going off the rails. The retailer in question earned any bashing that comes their way.

We engage in open discussion. This is the Internet, that's what we do here. This isn't a place that plays nice with price gougers and demands the same from it's members in the name of appeasing potential sponsors. There would be no one here if that were the case.

Come around a little more often and you might see that.

I was about to engage in civil discourse with you, but then I hit the pothole of "price gougers" in your post, and realized that I'm not going to be able to logic you out of a place that your emotions got you in to.

    Have a good night.

Because they paid for the first year and then didn't renew.

Btw, remember how Amazon kicked off people who were "price gouging"? The exact same bidet toilet seat that I bought from Amazon (Amazon is the actual seller) has doubled in price. I have no problem with "price gouging", but I hate hypocrites.

Because they paid for the first year and then didn't renew.

So they DID pay, then stopped paying? Why was that? And when they stopped paying, why wasn't their sponsorship immediately terminated? They were an asset to the community regarless of their payment status. Were they dropped as sponsors because of... greed?

    But greed is bad, right?
