Walmart’s curb side pickup service continues to disappoint. It simply wasn’t designed for this level of demand. Plus, the number of items the website says are unavailable (but really are) and what the pickers “couldn’t find” (but are physically present in the store) doesn’t really save much time. My wife continues to try and get a pick up slot (which you can only do right after midnight each night), place an order which will always have multiple items “un-available”, and then turn right around and go in the store and buy what wasn’t in the order.

We went up to the Bloomington Walmart yesterday because they have items we like that the Bedford one doesn’t carry. The parking lot was as full as any pre-CV Saturday you’d expect to see.

I am not finding as many liberals on the unlock/protest side though.

Not yet. Wait until they run out of money and Uncle Sugar stops sending them other taxpayers money for “free”. And when food shortages start to make their stomaches growl and the Vegans have too choose between their convictions and their hunger attitudes will change. Soon they will be on the Open Now bandwagon, dragged there by their empty wallets and empty bellies, all the time blaming the Orange Man.

I am noticing on social media more and more division on opinions of what to do. There are people that are raving mad about protests and people that wanting to end the lockdowns. There are people that are more unlock/protest oriented. I have not seen the protest people being so mad and abusive toward the other side, but that could be just my window.

I am a little surprised by this stark divide. I guess I should not be as we are divided on so much these days.

I am finding it interesting though, often the divides are along political lines, this time, I am noticing both liberals and conservatives both raving mad in support of the lock down. I am not finding as many liberals on the unlock/protest side though.

I do think people in general are getting weary of this stuff. I am going on a limb and saying if things are not lifted after 5/1 we will see more people getting upset about the lock down.

I am of 2 minds on this right now. I am OK with flattening the curve and slowing the outbreak, but at some point we are going to have to face it that the virus is not going to magically disappear and life will have to resume. I am not sure when that point should be, but with all the fake news, I cannot trust much.

As Kitty pointed out the divide is economic and fear driven. While not exactly the same people, this illustrates just why it is so hard to pass pro-2A legislation nationally. All the dems are pretty much in lockstep and the scared of the virus but enjoying the staycation repubs are in agreement with them. It is small business and those employed by them that is protesting the lockdown.

I always go to Mays Greenhouse in Btown for garden plants. They are saying that they are doing curbside pickup. I just can't see them getting it right.

If they handle the curbside pickup like MOST are doing their masks, I think they are actually more of a spreading danger to all than doing nothing.

I picked up my plants at Menards and Rural king.

Our REMC is in the process of running fiber optics throughout their service area. Interestingly, they (their contractor) were out working in front of our house today. I guess they got rained out some this past week and are making up time.

Man, I haven’t been there in years. We drove passed it yesterday and it looked like they had a decent crowd there.

Generally when you see that, there is an incentive in the contract to meet a deadline.

I know I do. Whatever they would bring I would like at and think, was this the best they had left.

This is why I could never do curbside pickup at grocery stores. I open cartons of eggs before I buy them, 1) to make sure none are cracked, and 2) some cartons of "large" eggs have eggs that are larger than others. That's just one example. Steaks or any kind of meat really, I'm going to look it over and pick what looks best for me. Take bacon for example - I always look at that little back "window" on the package to see which ones look leaner. Some random grocery clerk is just going to grab the one on the top of the pile.

How do these curbside pickup clerks decontaminate between cars? What about the employees that are fetching the products off the shelves inside?

Maybe I'm wrong here, but it sure seems as though the curbside thing is ripe for all kinds of cross contamination?

Wouldn't it be interesting to video the how much face touching goes on in the cars waiting in line for curbside service?

In fairness to my earlier comment about Walmart, they usually do a good job picking out decent examples. The one place that drives my wife crazy though is the bacon. She’ll pick through an entire cooler full to find the one or two that meets her exacting specifications. I’m not sure she’s ever bought steaks sight unseen though.

I agree about curbside being ripe for contamination/transmission. I would rather take my chances going into the store and handling my items myself with gloves on.

The contamination on the packaging is stationary and can be cleaned easily before you put it in cupboard or fridge. The cloud of aerosolized particles you are breathing as you move through the store is s much bigger threat. Every cough or breath from someone infected creates a wafting cloud that trails behind them and beside them. If you dont want to change your ways and do pickup, at least wear a mask. This idea that one can't be inconvenienced by all of this is straight up sociopathic.

Yeah unless they're willing to do live streaming for what they're picking out for me (never happen), I won't ever use it, pandemic or not. I'm too picky.

Until this crap blew everything up, my wife was a big fan. It’s not good for some stuff (as mentioned). But we hardly had any complaints for what they’d pick out for us.
