In the last couple of months I stocked up on Remington STS 12ga shells from Walmart. They seemed to be the only steady stream and when I did find them online the price was $10-$14 vs. $7.87 at Walmart. There was also a $2 rebate per box going on at the time.

Walmart must have contracts that are holding down the cost increases.

Just maybe that Walmarts not price gouging the consumer like most of the rest of retail...

My local gun shops are having a hard time getting anything in. The smaller one has been buying pretty much at our price then they do their 20% mark up to stay in business. So yes it cost more than normal but you don't have to pay shipping costs that is a little bonus I guess. I feel bad for the smaller gun shops who are last on the list to get supplies. They can't purchase enough to get the high volume deals the bigger shops and stores can get

A huge amount of small/medium sized gun shops tend not to go to the distributers shows up north and east of us. Without them going to shows and with some distributors wanting contracts signed for what will be purchased over the next year they dont get much ammo and other popular items they sell. Thats one of the reasons that gun stores that have been around for decades tend to have more product during tough times.
Some post that they get delivery's by the pallet, most gun stores in Indiana get reloading and ammo delivery's by the hand truck. How many shops stock over a 1,000 lbs of powder?

Stopped in the Martinsville RK this morning. They had quite a few 50 rd. boxes of various brands, all around $4.69 or so per box. No bulk boxes at all. I think the only handgun ammo I saw was a few boxes of 38 special.

Fiddling around in my safe I found an old MCSD marked S&W 66-2, unused and it will stay that way, but I had no .357/.38 ammo "if" I ever needed it !!!
Nice to see an old friend again though.

Was poking around on ammoseek.com, the cheapest I found was Remington Bucket O Bullets for $189. That's $.135/rd!!!:faint: No thanks.
Almost hate to say it but this keeps up I may have to see what I can part with. That's insane.

I wish I could find some Mini Mags at Walmart, I struck out a few times so far.
Looking at the auction site or Armslist they are getting about $12+ / 100....crazy.

And as an update to my previous question about the CCI Mini Mag HP 36G compared to the CCI Mini Mag Round Nose 40G. I shot about 50 rounds of each today and they both grouped nearly identical and equally well, wish I would have bought more of them.

    Wow!
I used to pay $70 for a bucket, then $50 at Walmart, then even $45 online once.
I have a "few" 1400 buckets around, thankfully.

my local Walmart still has minimags. There is huge glare on case so I couldn’t see how many. They limit you to two boxes though. If you’re close may be worth a trip to get them for 7.99 ish

Thanks for the heads up, I don't get over that way often but it may be worth the trip. Wish they didn't limit it to two boxes but I understand why.

Eureka....I stopped by a Wal-Mart found 5 boxes of 22lr hp mini mags at $7 ea and two boxes of 22lr CCI for $4, I said I would take them, and the clerk asked for my ID.
I handed over my Indiana DL and the clerk said...Sorry sir I cannot sell these to you?!?
    WHY?
I am on vacation, in Connecticut and need a Connecticut permit to buy....
sucks but I did get a “Rough Rider” BB gun on sale for cheap, for a grandson.
Headed down to Atlantic City NJ today.
i hope I don’t get pulled over and have to explain a BB gun in the trunk.
I was going to go into Manhattan on the way down for lunch, but not now.
Atlantic City NJ, Wash DC, Gettysburg PA, then back home again in Indiana by the weekend.

Lafayette Rural King on Teal Rd. had .22lr on the shelf yesterday. 4 box limit. They had a scattering of other calibers, limits on all. They will still sell a case of shotshells at a time.
