I was at Shoot Point Blank over the weekend, plenty of ARs in stock from various manufacturers, and not too bad on the pricing. We'll see what happens in the next few weeks.
This is what the flippers and advantage takers fail to see...there are items in stock at fair prices if you look.

A lot of reasons I believe. Guys bought at inflated prices years ago and are now off loading them. Guys have had multiple for years and now see a profit. Guys are worried about the commies in our government. Guys cannot shoot as much any more due to the cost of ammo. And then there are those who just want to help out our fellow man and get a black rifle into others hands. But I know I am probably wrong on all counts so just scroll on. LOL

I have one I'm considering listing. Why?

It's built for long distance shooting and I have not been doing that.
I'm reducing my firearm inventory down to the firearms I inherited from my dad
I don't want to have any issues with how the ownership of an AR will affect me in the future

As far as losing money, that is accepted. I built that rifle 2014 and put about $1700 in it, including the optic. I haven't put 100 rounds through it so I don't see the point in having it anymore. I was hoping to be able to join some of the AR shoots that people like LoveMyWoods were doing back a few years and since it never happened for me, the rifle sits.

I have zero interest in Highpower shooting either.

I'll take a bath selling it and even at a reduced price, I may not get any takers. Like someone upthread said, the lower priced ones seem to be selling, not the higher quality ones.

I have one similar to yours. I put $1500 into it not counting the optic. It sits in the safe and comes out 2 times a year. The optic is a big Vortex and the stats elude me right now as I seldom if ever even look at the rifle beyond moving it around to make space. To attempt to sell it would be an exorcise in futility. It took forever to sell its twin a while back. So it sits all warm and secure with the other 8 or so AR's that I am totally upside down in and continue to upgrade.

It is a sickness you know.....:):

So, mine might be futile to try and sell also.

    Pretty much Michigan.
I think selling them for what they are worth or more here is a futile effort. The members who have access to the classifieds probably have one or two already so they’re not buying unless its a good deal. The newbies that dont know any better and try to make a run for the classys to try to get ahold of that AR or whatever get shut down by CM lol. Thats why i price my stuff at a small loss or offer to trade for ammo, then end up trading for mostly ammo at a better price than i can buy it. Then if i ever find myself needing cash i can unload the ammo quickly and ideally for for more than i had into the firearm but still have a competitive CPR.

You are all missing the real reason...nothing to feed them.
Might as well get some sucker to buy it who thinks they will be hard to find later (cough) all the while not realizing there there is an ammo shortage.
I tend to agree with mike8170. Why have them if you cannot feed them? I know guys that have the ammo, but won't shoot it because they are concerned they will not be able to get more to replace what they have used? Right, wrong or indifferent that is their logic. I have to admit I have recently sold a Non-AR rifle on mine because it is a scarce caliber and when I do find ammo for it the normal price is $45.00 for a box of 20. Just to rich for my wallet...so I sold it.

I have my 2 AR's setup as I had when I was in the Corps. I got ammo and reloading supplies but don't need to shoot often. This way I got something to show my kids and allow me hem to shoot when the miltary finally ditchs the platform down the road.

There are currently 135 listings for 5.56 ammo and 145 listings for 223 ammo on Ammoseek.

    But yeah...nOtHiNg tO fEEd tHeM!

My ARs must be defective. They don't "eat" anything in my safe. And if I ever really need them, there is plenty for them to eat in my ammo cabinet.

We'll see who the suckers are if things continue to trend towards instability.

I never knew the guns I buy should be considered investments!

I don't even know what I have in some of them. I price against the market when I buy but never really keep track of anything.

AR built on INGO lower by THE churchmouse. Clearly a collector's item. $2500 firm. I know what I have, don't bother trying to lowball me.

I think you guys covered all the reasons:
Ammo pricing, ammo is out there, you just have to pay up for it right now.
People that have a few extra and have figured out now may be a good time to move them.
Rifles that were purpose built, yet not used for that "purpose" or used at all.

A couple years ago you almost couldn't give one away.
So if you're on the fence with selling an extra one, now is probably the time to do it.
I would use gunbroker if you really want to sell one.
The market on this forum is very slim, as everyone wants a steal, or already have 3 or more.
