All of a sudden my Amazon Prime orders are taking almost a week to arrive. I can barely find anything with the option to ship next day or even two days. I placed an order Wednesday and it is not coming until Monday. I placed an order today for an item and it is not going to arrive until Friday.

It's almost enough to make a girl want to try getting along without them.

I’ve been wondering the same thing, but you know exactly what the excuse they’re using is…..covid. It’s given every company/service/mom an pop/lemonade stand in the world an excuse to not deliver what was promised. I don’t understand why we haven’t heard more people complaining about it (Amazon in particular). My employer hasn’t slowed down in the least, and actually has been producing more than ever before, and we haven’t had many issues with our suppliers, either, yet everywhere I go, something isn’t available, or is not possible because of ****ing covid!

For me, its a day of the week now. Wednesdays for me.

But no more. In the past 2 weeks I placed 6 orders. 3 I tried for Amazon day.

only 1 arrived on time. (none of the amazon day orders did) So 2 of the orders I ended up waiting at least a week, One took 9 days; And that one, 3 days after it was supposed to be delivered, I tried to cancel. "cant cancel. Because Its about to ship." It took THREE more days to ship. :xmad:

I can tolerate waiting an extra day or two due to shipping issues. I have a HUGE issue waiting nearly a week to do my part, only to be told the shipping has been delayed AGAIN. Nope. Delays like that I can go back to traditional mail order and not pay the premium of Prime.

Amazon is REALLY dropping the ball.

And I think they are having a driver shortage in Louisville. More than half my orders ship from there, and then immediately (within 6 minutes) update the status to "Sorry, there has been a delay in shipping." That short interval tells me its been loaded onto the semi, but there is nobody there to drive it to Indy.

EDIT: the 9 day order is still technically MIA. I forgot I gave up and re-ordered it. Still waiting for the original order to ship. And they still wont let me cancel. (at least they havent charged me)

I hate to defend any major corporation but look at the problems mom and pops are having with staffing then multiple by large magnitudes with the various corporations. In this case there are LOTS of layers between product and consumer; supplier, several layers of shippers and warehousing, several layers of delivery after the order is placed. Etc, etc, etc.

This is just a larger scale of all the crap that's been going on for the last year and a half. Shelves are bare, help wanted signs are everywhere, businesses of all ilks are reducing hours due to staffing. The list goes on and on and on.

We've become a microwave society and our only happiness arrives instantaneously or we lose our minds. Have we forgotten how GOOD we really have it here in this country in spite of all the shenanigans of late? Yeah it sucks, I've been waiting on back ordered parts for a project for six and a half weeks now but it's not life or death and they will eventually deliver. In the meantime I have plenty of other things I can be doing.

I get all of that, and I don't mind waiting for an order if I am not paying a premium for quick delivery. But if I am not getting the service I am paying for, I'll go somewhere else or at the very least, cancel my Prime membership.

This has become the normal state of affairs in many businesses. Just like fast food places, Amazon and their shipping partners are struggling to keep enough workers to get the job done.

After disappearing into a black hole since 8/4, my UPS shipment of primers from MidwayUSA finally surfaced yesterday and is scheduled to be delivered at about three weeks from the posted ship date.

Most of the items I have been ordering on Amazon, I have been able to receive within a week. Most items are a few days. I have started ordering canned cat food and things I can only get at Walmart locally on Amazon as I refuse to go into Walmart and do the self checkout. I have found that once I get my search results, I filter them and look for the ones that are the lowest price with the quickest shipping and pick the one that fits our needs the best. I haven't been able to find the cat food I buy at any stores locally...shelves seem to be pretty empty.

In comparison, I ordered some parts from another site for the truck we bought in March. Order was placed on April 3rd. My credit card was charged on Friday and the package shipped this morning...should arrive on Thursday. Luckily, it was not anything necessary for the truck to be driven and was just some cosmetic type items that were on backorder. I had given up on getting them but couldn't find the parts anywhere else so I'm glad they are finally available and on their way.

If you take advantage of Amazon day, you get a $2 credit per order for digital stuff. Which sounds OK. Until they dont ship it on time and more time is added to the delivery.

And I just once again tried to cancel my MIA order via chat. "we cant cancel because its in the advanced stages of shipping." WTaF? Its been "Shipping" since the 16th! Where's the tylenol?

The last item I ordered that was late to arrive that I really needed, I just reordered from another seller. I reported the original order as late when it was not here as of the scheduled delivery date. Amazon canceled the order. Two or three weeks later, it arrived and there was a notation on the order in my order history to return if it arrived. I took it to the UPS store and they returned it at no cost to me. My account had already been credited but it did say that if it arrived and was not returned within a certain number of days, my card would be charged again.

As others have noted, the shortage of people willing to work has to be part of the problem. Add to that people like myself who are doing more online orders instead of going to stores or dealing with out of stock items in the stores, and that creates even more orders. The UPS driver at work said they are delivering TONS of Amazon orders in spite of the Amazon vans being everywhere.

While it has taken longer lately, even a few years ago most of my prime orders were taking 3 to 4 days. And now, the delivery gets handed off to USPS and that seems to add another delay. I have UPS and FedEx set up to put my packages at the back door. USPS driver we had last year would do that too. Driver we have now is a joke. Often forgets to drop off the packages when he delivers the mail, and then an hour later you'll see him speeding around the neighborhood retracing his tracks as he delivers a forgotten package. And he'll run up to the front door, drop the package, and run back to his truck. Won't even ring the doorbell so you know to check. Now, when I'm expecting a package, I'll wait till early evening, hours after the mail came, and see if the package ever showed up.

I order am honestly embarrassing amount of stuff from Amazon (187 orders in 2021 so far, 261 in 2020, etc, etc) and my orders are seldom late if the product is shipping from Amazon and not a 3rd party. Over the years they've made it harder and harder for it to be obvious when it happens, but I try to avoid 3rd parties at almost all costs.

Honestly, I haven't had a beef about Amazon shipping, or anyone elses really, since peak Covid times. I'm generally pretty surprised how well they handled it. Amazon even sends multiple trucks a day to my house. Happened on Friday... and then another package today (which was 2 hours late... humph).

    ---

I've also mentioned my philosophy on here before of making Amazon suffer as much as possible by keeping me as a customer, hence the insane number of orders. I will intentionally not group items, wait a day between orders for stuff I know I need all at the same time, etc, etc just to make them waste as many resources on me as possible.

I do the same thing to Sam's. Plus membership = a bazillion orders from me every year shipped "free". If they stopped being woke idiots, I'd stop punishing them.

Recently ordered B&S lawnmower oil and T shirts, both showed two days out at time of Prime order, both have been delayed significantly and if one looks at the item listings currently on Amazon, they now show as waiting on arrival if ordered today. Along with understaffing, kung flu. etc etc... I think Amazon has had recent inventory control glitches.

I only have problems when it ships by USPS usually. Sometimes it will get delayed somehow trucking over to the Gary delivery station from Mokena IL, but if it's in Gary by 9 or 10 am I'll almost always have it that day. I don't think I've had one delay caused by the actual delivery station or its drivers.

The USPS has turned into a roll of the dice here. You never know what they will do. Less dependable all the time.

Luckily, Amazon hardly ever uses USPS here anymore. Amazon's trucks run our road every day.

It's hardly ever 2 days in the country where I live. 3-5 days usually. They always send an email saying if it isn't there by x day you contact us and you get it for free and or they ship out another one. So far it arrives on x day. Which is usually the 5th day.

Quit using Amazon over a year ago, except for researching items. You can find the same products elsewhere for the same or lower cost and delivery is usually a few days. Plus I do not have to deal with the very inconsiderate drivers who like to drive through the yard to get either to or from our neighbors when they go to the wrong driveway because they can’t read the numbers on our mailboxes. Most of the homes where I live have 1000 foot+ driveways. Much less stress not having to constantly complain about Amazon.
