I just looked at expected private party and trade-in values on my truck. In almost 10 years of ownership I've depreciated roughly $6500-$8000, depending. I've often made the argument here that if buying a non-luxury pickup or "real" SUV or Jeep, the "buy 3 years old so you don't eat the depreciation" common wisdom no longer really saves you much, if anything.

Even with that expectation, it's kind of nuts I've lost *at most* $800 a year in value to depreciation...but not as nuts as used Broncos are APPRECIATING right now. That won't last, but wow.
Yeah, things are changing. Certain vehicles; most Toyota's and Honda's along with the Wrangler hold value so much, that you may as well buy new. If you start calculating the cost per mile, any extra amount you pay by buying new washes out. Not to mention you get the put on the early miles so you know exactly how it was treated and you get to outfit it the way you want.

This is really impressive. A Bronco Sport Badlands with 1.5" lift and off-road tires. Not even a "real" Bronco, but I gotta say, if it will do this, it will do anything I need an SUV to do.

If I were in the market for one of these, I would want a solid aftermarket roll bar system. I'm not sure that Bronco's standard system is adequate. My wife rolled a mid 80's Toyota 4Runner by letting the tires drift off the pavement of a "raised" highway roadbed. She overcorrected and flipped the 4Runner onto the top. The roll bar and seat belts saved the lives of she and kids.

Do you think every vehicle should have an aftermarket roll bar or just a Bronco?

So what I have said about the Eco-boost might be true.
The only Ecoboost engine I have experience with is the 2.0 in a 2017 Escape. Loved the low end torque, but the thing did well to get 19 mpg around town. Lotsa boost, not much eco. If the torque, hp and MPG are similar enough between the V6 Ecoboost and the tried and true 302, I don’t see the point of the Ecoboost in the Bronco.

The Bronco motor issue is something a forum started tracking, the media got ahold of, and blew it up for clicks. There's nothing wrong with the 2.7L 6 cylinder. It's in many other vehicles with no issue, including F-150s. The issue is a bad batch of valves in a certain time frame of 2.7s for Broncos.

Well , the feds are investigating, so it seems like it might be more than a couple of instances of sudden engine failure. Ford sure as hell ain’t going to announce it, so I’m glad the media picked up on it. Butthurt Ford fans seem like a lesser concern than sudden engine failure on the interstate.

There was nothing wrong with the early Sig P320s either, as long as you didn’t drop them. :):

When they announced Ford was bringing back the Bronco, I had visions of retro styling like with the Mustang.
What we got was a made over Land Rover in my most humble opinion. No knock on the effort just the retro name fanfare.
The styling is OK if you like it just not a "Bronco" to many of us.

Ford said that they’re investigating. If they have investigated and found it’s a bad lot of valves, it seems to me they’d say that. Unless the investigation at this point is to identify which vehicles would be involved in a recall.

The lifted 2-door version comes the closest in looks and styling of the old ones.

The 3.5 eco has been great in my F-150, way more power than it needs but boy it sure can be fun…
