I also said "maybe your town, but not in mine". When my dept. works a checkpoint, they are only interested in DUI's. I don't know what Lafayette does. I know they are only legal for sobriety.
Good talk gents, stay safe.
In your opinion, all mentally ill folks and convicted felons should be allowed to own firearms then?
Do you think background checks won't be tailored to get the outcome that the government wants, especially when they don't have to reveal why you were disqualified? There is a level of trust...
I'm not sure where the disconnect is!
I never said limiting everybody, I said "some people", meaning individuals!
Also, I agree with you on the parenting thing.
1. "A bad day" your words, not mine. Mental illness and "a bad day" are a tad different.
2. "You believe in socialized penalties?" Again, your words.
Ummm, no I believe in individualized ones.
3. You want everything to be black and white. It isn't.
4. Am I not free to assess myself? You...
Yep, Brian Anderson murdered his mother and then killed IPD Officer Jake Laird. He was known to be mentally unstable and should've never had firearms. It's people like him that do crazy **** that will ruin it all for the rest of us.
All law abiding persons that aren't diagnosed as being...
That's because you consider yourself a good driver and a responsible gun owner. You have to agree that there are some people that just should not be driving because they are a danger to themselves or others. I agree with you, but there are exceptions for everything. Not everything is cut and dry.
I work checkpoints every now and then and yes, they are only after DUI's. Could care less about any other infractions at all. In fact, we are told to let everything else go. In my town anyway, maybe yours is different. I know the stats because I work them. There must be a bunch of sovereign...
Not in my opinion sir. I have lost a family member to a drunk driver so my opinion is also biased. Checkpoints are random and only effect the drunk drivers. Driving is also a privilage not a right.
I don't believe in the cover up conspiracy theory so I'm not getting into that whole line of what ifs ha! Sorry. I do agree with you on somebody knew ahead of time IF he had a drinking problem. I would be asking what his wife knew. Let me ask you this; We are all about our rights here right...
Not sure Mike, I believe that they have to be working (course of their duties type of thing) IDACS has lots of rules so it wouldn't surprise me if that wasn't allowed.
That girl was not drunk or arrested so that is moot. She blew a .03 and they took her blood. She was found not to be over .08 and therefore not charged. She still had alcohol in her system and killed two people, but no charges. Do you think that was fair?
He's facing charges. And it will all shake out in court like it does for everyone. Everybody keeps saying how they'd be in jail already if it were them. Well, he did go to jail, and he bonded out. Almost everyone has the opportunity to bond out quickly like that, including drunk drivers who kill...
If you haven't been drinking then you'll be on your way, if you have then you had it coming. IMO, It's a public service and if it keeps one more person alive then it's worth it. Unless that person is an Obama voter....OOOOOOO:D
He is still suspended WITHOUT pay, the merit board cannot terminate him YET. Waiting on the obvious. He has no equipment or is any way doing anything connected to the dept anymore. And before everyone goes up in arms, check the maximums that any citizen can get for what he did. It will be no...
