UPDATE: Received a call on Monday from KY Gun Co. that my Ruger was in and ready for pickup. Was able to get it today, so from the time I ordered it until it was ready for pickup was about 2 weeks, which I didn't think was bad for a product on backorder.

I picked up a Shield 9mm last week also, but haven't put any rounds through it yet, can't wait to get to the range.
Also, for what it's worth, KY Gun Co. (I have no affiliation) has the SW M&P 40 No Thumb Safety for $319.99...
I just ordered the LCP Custom from KY Gun Co. It was on their website as "available for backorder" for $219.99. My order status shows it's ready to ship. Will hopefully have it before too long.

Here is a schematic I found online for the 187 which is equivalent to the 887, I don't see anything listed specifically as a "firing pin return spring". Are you referring to part #3 (hammer spring) or #6 (breech bolt spring)?

I am not exactly sure what the issue is, he just said he was having a hard time seeing/using the sights. Not sure if it's due to his eyesight/glasses or the dark sights. I originally recommended he put some hi-vis paint dots to see if that helps. Will let him know about the bifocal safety...
Thanks for the video link, I had heard dry-fire was not a good thing....video and posts above clear up the difference between rimfire and centerfire. I learned something today!:cool:
