      Need Help Understanding the IC

I've been browsing the IC, and I'm having trouble understanding when to apply the words "and" or "or". Take 35-47-2-1 for example: (3) the person carries the handgun in a vehicle that is owned, leased, rented, or otherwise legally controlled by the person, if the handgun is: (A)...

Korean War - Why has it never ended?

Shooting in the Korean War ended in July, 1953 with the signing of the armistice. Seems like, by now, they would have agreed on some sort of treaty, or resumed fighting to finish it. Why, after 59 years, has there been no official end to the war?

      Altoid Tin: Warning

Went out with my boys to practice making fire with the ferro rod. I reached into the bag, grabbed the Altoid tin which contains my fire kit, opened it, and it was full of...mints. Oops. Be careful when you pack! :)

      Handgun Carry in Virginia

I'll be going to Virginia via Ohio. So through Ohio, I'll have to lock it up and put it in the back of the vehicle. Once in Virginia, I can OPEN carry, because VA does not recgonize our LTCH, but does allow open carry without any permits. Am I understanding the laws correctly?

      CZ 75 Compact & P01 Question

I'm lusting for either a CZ 75 Compact or a CZ P01. The Compact has a manual safety. It also has a "firing pin safety". Would the firing pin safety allow for safe Condition 2 (loaded chamber, hammer down) carry. This seem to be frowned upon with the 1911 crowd. Just wondering if it's any...

Lights in the sky tonight! Sept 11

Did anyone else notice the weird lights in the sky tonight in the Noble County area around 9:40PM? They were east of Ligonier, just high enough to be seen above distant trees. They were kinda orange, and WAY too bright to be stars. I was driving in my truck and they appeared to me to be...

Staring a Fire - ever try this method?

I have never heard of this before. Is this real? 20110123123912.mp4 video by FirePiston - Photobucket

DuraCoat, CeraKote, Parkerized- too many choices- help!

I have a Keltec PF9 with just a little surface rust on the slide. I tried to remove the rust with a q-tip and "The Works" toilet bowl cleaner. It dissolves rust, and apparently, bluing too. Gee, who knew. :dunno: It didn't say "Don't not use on guns" on the label. Now a have a small, q-tip sized...

Could my handgun fire if my bony butt fell on it?

I have a Kel-tec PF-9. I keep it in a belt holster with a thumb-break. It's NOT coming out of the holster. I'm not worried about the trigger. My concern is: If I fell real hard on it, on a hard surface, is there anyway it could fire? Could something break and cause it to fire? For those not...

      Famous Sibling Singers

I'm making a music quiz and I need a list of singers who were brothers or sisters, who had successful independant careers. There must be at least three siblings, and it's OK if they sang together sometimes, but again, they must all have had successful solo careers also. Jermaine, Michael, and...

      Machete as a survival knife?

I want a survival knife to take with me on hikes. I figure some common tasks in a survival situation might be: cutting cordage, cutting small branches off larger ones to make poles, splitting firewood (battoning), skinning critters. Seems like a machete could handle those tasks. Assuming a...

      Lint Candle - Tinder

Seeing the resurrected thread about fire pistons, https://www.indianagunowners.com/forums/survival_and_disaster_preparedness/65927-fire_pistons_and_char_cloth.html, got me to thinking about cotton balls smeared with Vaseline, which are used as tinder to start fires. I have used them, and they...

Kerosene vs propane fuel for heat

I have a 23,000 BTU kerosene heater for emergency heat, but I'm thinking about getting a propane heater. The specs on the heater say it will run 24 hours on 4 gallons. Around here, kerosene currently costs $4.30/gal. If I ran the heater 24 hours, it would cost $17.20 per day. Also, in my area...

      Two Wounded at LA School

Here's the story: 2 wounded at LA school when gun in backpack fires - Yahoo! News I call B.S. on this story. We have laws to prevent this very sort of thing from happening. First of all, a 10th grader is not old enough (I hope) to have a handgun permit. Secondly, it is against the law to carry...

      Cheese for hiking and camping

I go tent camping several times a year and I HATE messing with ice to keep food cold. So I was wondering: Is there a way to keep cheese good for about a week without refrigeration? Or maybe a certain type of cheese that would work.

      Shotguns - Rifled vs. smooth

I want to buy a shotgun, but I can't decide between a smooth or rifled barrel. I understand that a rifled barrel will help extend slug accuracy. What does rifling do for buckshot or birdshot? What's your favorite kind of barrel? Also, would 20 gauge be OK for deer hunting and home defence? I...

      Looking for Indiana Code

I'm trying to find the IC that states a person must be 21 years old to buy a handgun, but I can't find it. Can someone give me the numbers? I'm asking because I "heard on the internet" that a sub-21 year old can buy a handgun from a private person.

Non-LTCH at Shooting Range - The Poll

I know this has been discussed before, but I thought it would be a good topic for a poll. Is it legal, for for someone 18+ years old, to shoot a handgun at a shooting range, without a LTCH? Please, no discussions, no opinions, no gun transportation scenarios, no "Yes, but..." answers. It's a...

      Who ARE the terrorists?

First, I'd like to ask, "Do you, or someone you know, refuse to fly because of the possibility of the plane being blown up or hijacked by terrorists?" Now I'd like to ask, "Do you, or someone you know, refuse to fly because you're afraid of being groped?" Seems like the govt has done more to...

Where do Indiana schools get their money?

I thought I recently heard that schools no longer get any money from property taxes, but from the state. Is this true? Also, what are some other sources of funding for schools?
