Well.... mom's car battery was fine. Water pipe in the garage was not. Hopefully have a plumber coming yet today. Got the main line shut down at the street for now. Seems she left she garage door up for some reason last night (likely went in that way and simply forgot to go back and close it).

After the plumber, it is on to insurance. Soaked most of her kitchen (ran under wall on the slab). Probably 10' of drywall and insulation, plus the floor (she has laminate), and who knows what else. What a mess. Her deductible will be cheaper than doing it myself, and I'm not exactly in the mood.

My water pipes and water heater are in the garage.
I've heat traced them, and insulated.

Had a neighbor move in. I would text him to tell him his garage door was open.
Then I figured what the heck, he can't learn.
Next thing I know, they have a plumber's truck in the driveway. Water pipes in the garage froze.
Well, maybe now he'll yell at his kids for opening the door and leaving it open.

Sure was cold this morning. Felt pretty brutal in the work uniform with a Carhartt coat while out looking for air leaks. Wish I could wear bibs when it’s this cold.

The fleece lined jeans are even better than the flannel ones. I have both but love the fleece ones.

Saw this going through my trail camera cards tonight...check out the temp.

And then there is this...bucket....slightly frozen. The bottom of it was bulging so badly I couldn't believe it didn't split...those rubber buckets are tough.

Hubby loved my ice breaking technique too. :):

Looked at the 7 day forecast for my area and it looks like it's gonna be below zero 5 out of the next 7 nights in NE Indiana. "Okay campers, rise and shine, and don't forget your booties 'cause it's coooooold out there today".

Warmer this morning so far. I was right at 0 last check. We still have time to drop a little bit more.

I suppose 255.9 Kelvin would have been better. No special chars required.

Was 10 this morning. Amazing the difference a few degrees makes.

Brings up a question: at what temp is it just too darned cold? It is about that zero point for me. Above zero, and outside chores aren't a big deal. Below.... meh, they can wait...

The Mrs and I were noticing how just a few degrees seems to make all the difference. That's something when 9º F seems "warm," compared to yesterday.

In the Army they sent us to Fort McCoy for winter training, and being outside all day in 10º weather got to feel okay after a few days. However, that was a much younger version of me. :):

    You make me happy.

I cringe when I hear or read "blah blah blah degrees Kelvin."
