I think we're building a decent body of evidence supporting the hypothesis that good quality night vision and/or thermal imaging has a strong positive correlation to successful coyote hunting.

Yep, I'm coming to the conclusion I need NV. I usually hunt alone so trying to juggle a light and a rifle doesn't cut it so I use a rifle mounted light. Not only does it weigh a ton its bulky and balances poorly. Justifying the cost with The Boss is going to be tough unless I can find a screaming deal or go with a lower end unit. Bad thing about the lower cost ones I've looked at I'll still need a IR light.

If you're getting it done with a light, you're a better man than me. I will tell you, the amount of coyotes you never see with a light is amazing.

Thanks for the help on NV. Going to see what I can work into the budget. Got shots at 3 last night (lucky, for a change!) but wonder what else was out there.

I've got some ridiculously good throwing lights I can mount on an AR, but I've yet to try the game. Maybe this year!

Get out there and go for it! It isn't easy (unless you're Rookie) but its fun and you can use gear that would otherwise not have much use in this state. Long season (year round on private land!) no bag limits, day or night.

Heck, might as well go for it. 50 BMG!

Ive shot them with a Lapua before. I was messing around at 800 yds, my father was spotting. We had been shooting for 30 minutes (not fast, probably 7 or 8 shots). I was on target, and putting pressure on the trigger when my father says FREEZE. A yote had come out between me an the target at my 600 yard target. Since I had just shot the 600 I knew my dope really well, dialed down, and put it down.
