    I just shoot factory loads out of my Taurus, but it seemed like the recoil from the long barreled smiths was still too harsh, and I figured as similarly as the Ruger configuration is to the smith barrel wise, it'd be about the same. I do admit I haven't shot the Ruger, to be fair. I speculated that the full lug barrel on the Taurus would tame that down quite a bit. I was right. Seems like the Taurus' recoil is more straight back and more manageable than the Smith was.

    I would have to say for the money you can't beat a Virginian Dragoon. I now have 6 of them in varying configurations and they all shoot fine. They are a well built firearm and I have never had one malfunction. I have found them at gun shows here in southern Indiana in the $300 - $350 range.
