Guess my idea of Asian, and the media's idea of Asian are two different things.

If you want to get technical, you are right.

I'm just saying I wouldn't describe a person of middle-eastern descent as Asian, but it looks like T.Lex has already given a very good theory for the mix up.

Keep in mind that, while I don't know what he was convicted of in January, if it was "hate speech" it was probably something that wouldn't even be illegal here in the US.
