As much as I'd love a lightweight compact 1911, I have to make do with my Taurus 24/7 compact. 10 rds of .45 in a nice compact size.

I had a chance to shoot one of these last week. I never thought I would like a real compact (more like sub-compact), but I enjoyed it. It's now on my 2017 buy list.

I'll also go with the Defender, but let's not forget the old school, once popular Star PD, Commander length barrel, Officers size grip and light weight. If I can just figure how to put night sights on it cost effectively. Has anyone heard of this being done?

Beretta/Stoeger 8045. An all metal frame. Look at a px4 in .45. The 8045 compact is basically a predecessor. Came in a compact design

I typically favor HK, but my M&Pc .45 with Apex DAEK (spelling?) is my typical hip rider. Sometimes Shield, VP9, & if really baggy clothes HK45 Light LEM, but +90% of the time, the M&Pc

I like the Commander sized 1911, have owned and sold half a dozen over the years but my new S&W is a keeper I think....lightweight scandium frame and trijicon sights...

I have a Colt 1991A1 Compact Commander that is very similar to this. The only complaint I'd have regarding it is weight. With a good holster it becomes manageable, but loaded it is almost double in weight over my Glock 27 and it holds nearly half the rounds. 5+1 compared to 9+1.. 40 some ounces.. compared to 20 some ounces. Fairly significant difference. Is there anything out there lighter w/ good capacity?
