I believe her sentence was commuted, not a pardon. So, the felony is still on her record. (Open to correction on that, as I'm going from memory.) As noted above, the Senate can still decide whether to accept her, if elected. That may be no small feat. (Which calls to mind a certain other thread here on INGO where people took issue with the practice.)

Objectively, though, there's an argument that she's more qualified than the current and former presidents.

Tactically, her opponent would always fall back to "but she's a traitor." Which opens the retort, "My opponent doesn't want to talk about the issues...."

Politically this could be great for the republicans. If she unseats an incumbent but isn't strong in the general she makes a blue seat red. This would balance the Roy Moore loss.

It's an optimistic thought.

Don't confuse the rank and file Democrats with leftist ideologues. The average person, Democrat or not, is not a huge fan of treason or trans...or nutty, inexperienced candidates.
