In this great nation of ours, people have the right to speak their mind.
They do NOT have a "right" to be heard.

Say what you like, but not one single person is required by law to listen to what you have to say.
No-one is required to give another any attention, if they choose not to do so.

These players have every right to spew hate and derision.
The problem is that they expect everyone to DO what THEY feel is right.

When people spout stupid things to me, this is generally my reply,
"There are two sides to every argument.
Unfortunately I have neither the time nor inclination to listen to yours."

Spot on. Add to this: They don't have a right to speak their mind when doing so is contrary to the well-being of the employers' business.

I was never that big of an NFL fan to start with. I prefer my entertainment to be relatively free of political advocacy.

It could be that a lot of them are wife beaters and have criminal records.
Painting with an awfully wide brush. I think perception doesn't meet with reality here. NFL players don't get arrested at a high rate, but we do hear about pretty much every time they do.

Or are sitting in prison for murdering a "friend".
One murderer and one conspiracy to commit murder is not really a good representation.
