The 1500 FPS Underwoods in the safe are 155 gr.
The UMC's clock 1150 and the are 180 gr.

We have burned up all the really fast fun stuff this summer so I need to put that on the "I need" list

    I can't let a 10 mm thread go without a Smith & Wesson 1006 reference. It isn't CM's custom but it was designed when 10mm meant 10MM!

You folks are talking me in and out of a 10mm. Don't think I need to go into the 1700 fps realm, but then, whats the point if I don't. Decisions, decisions....

I've never ran 1800 fps out of it but light "FBI" loads to original 10 mm loads are very tame and the gun is a tank.

I like the idea of 1911 10 mm and have looked at the Colt several times just never seem to pull the trigger. I'm sure if you are running today's mild 10mm factory loads you'd be fine. For purely hunting use, the plastic G____k looks like a good option but I have zero experience with it.

I have a Glock 20 and shoot Underwood through it. It is an absolute hoot. I've been contemplating a 10mm 1911 but the more I think about it the more I lean towards Tangfolio.

I primarily shoot that Sig 180 gr that runs around 1250 fps. So pretty strong compared to the other mass market ammo loads. My CDE hasn't blown up yet.

I shoot the Sig fmj through my Delta as well as 165gr Underwood gold dots @1400fps. I have personally shown the brass to colt and starline brass and was assured by both that there was nothing to be concerned about. Underwood also no longer has any disclaimers for the Delta for any of there ammo.

I shoot Underwood XTP's 180gr coming out at 1300. I think that's out of a 5" barrel. Probably about 1340 out of my long slide G40. They're stout but under recoil the G40 with underwoods feel about like shooting my USP45 with SD loads. The G40 is very top heavy, soaks up recoil nicely

    Churchmouse:

What is the difference between your custom gun and the CDE or the Ruger?
Just a matter of curiosity and I KNOW that you can 'splain it to me.

The Colts as I understand from doing a bit of digging have been improved but it is still a production gun as is the Ruger.
Nothing wrong with a Production gun.....well, G**** comes to mind (I keed I keed) but the attention to detail as compared to a custom built is just not there. In any of them. Mass production get you a decent product at a given price point.
Custom pieces are fit up like a watch. They are stronger and just way to cool. I have 2 custom 10mm's. They are built to punish. I would not run a CDE or the Ruger with the same confidence. And note I am not knocking either marque. I have not yet fondled/run the Ruger in 10mm so I can not offer any opinion on them save for the fact a few folks I trust have said they run but don't buy one. That was a recommendation to me not the masses. My expectations might be a bit high for that model.
All in what you perceive it needs to be.
