It's worse than you could imagine. I know someone that went to China to inspect parts for their product then caught the manufacturer with a pallet of non-QC controlled parts from another cheaper manufacturer ready to ship to the USA. Even the real stuff gets faked.

I worry that such practices are the norm rather than the exception.
