A serious question for our INGO LEOs. What about the bad guys you disarm? Are they fully loaded/topped off? Different ammo in the same mag? Wrong ammo? Got two in a 12 round magazine?

Generally not fully loaded. Generally not the same variety of ammo. Sometimes not even the right caliber.

I only load 4 into the cylinder of my 6 shot revolver. That way I can see if I'm flinching and correct it for the next shot.

I carry the full 6. That’s all the time you have to stop a threat anyway.

Usually down the one that's in the chamber and an extra 19 in a spare mag. Depending on the mag and if it's 15 or 19 rounds it seems that fully loaded mag binds up the slide a bit more than a mag that is one down. Maybe it's my imagination but reliability is my reasoning.

Could be they're told "no one needs X amount of ammo."
Could be they think the spring in the magazine will be affected. On the sub, we only had 5 rounds in each mag (1911) to "protect the spring".
Mostly the problem was, our mags were decades old, wore out, and sub supply guys don't like to "waste" $$$ on small arms.

Most things in there don't react well to bullets. ;)

That, and we tend not to want people to get "small arms" close.
Anything that close, and we usually had "special missions" personnel who were better trained.

You mean I sneaked a line from "The Hunt for Red October" by you?
