Surprisingly, not everyone who lives in a city is stacked on top of each other in a skyscraper. I live in a suburb, actually a small town that is considered Indianapolis. Unless you knew that you were in Indy, you couldn't tell the area from any small town in Indiana. In my line of work, I make twice (or more) what I could make living in the sticks. Plus I have easy access to all kinds of shopping, dining and entertainment. It's nice having more choices than a Walmart, a Burger King and a gas station. And Bubba's Bait Shop, if he decides to come in today.

Funny how people who like to make fun of Indy do it by calling it things like "backwater," which is exactly where they probably live.

"I hate cities. Also, you're not a real city." :):
Funny how you again speak from no real knowledge.

You know no more about these subjects than you do about the weather in Gary.

Went to college for two degrees and taught 29 years in Gary. You just have to know where and where not to go, and when.

    So, just like Gary then.
Cause not all of Gary is the same.
There are parts, that you wouldn't know were Gary.

Funny story. About twenty years ago, a friend from Berne was visiting, and I took him for a drive through Gary. The good, the bad, and the ugly, from Holy Angels Cathedral to the "two five" (bad area of 25th Ave). He said "Oh my gosh, the houses have grass and everything."

...Like anywhere else, you need to know where to go and where not to go and more accurately, when not to go to the places where you should not go.

It's kinda funny that people actually in the Region seem to come to this conclusion.

People who only hear the stories, well they seem a little delicate.

Just like Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit, St. Louis so on and so forth location awareness is essential also be aware of the time of day.
The difference being if you are in close proximity to a “bad” area one of the predators/insane people that resides in the bad area might slip out!

    Need more detail.

Like anywhere else, you need to know where to go and where not to go and more accurately, when not to go to the places where you should not go.

It also helps to know when to hold'em, and know when to fold'em. Know when to walk away. Know when to run.

So...is that a reason to go to Gary or a reason not to go?

Better casinos in Michigan City, Hammond and East Chicago...if you're in to that sort of thing.

They're trying to give the Gary casino a chance by letting it move inland to a busy highway.

I am no fan of casinos, but the money is not put to good use in Gary and the other places seem to do better things with it.
