Voting for someone because they are black and female is as stupid as voting for someone because they are white and male.

If your policies and positions are the ones I think are better, I'll vote for you and race, ethnicity, religion and sex are irrelevant.

Exactly the point I was trying to make earlier.

I didn’t not vote for Obama because of race and I also didn’t not vote for Hillary because of gender.

I’m not about to vote race or gender for the sake of historical value if they don’t fit the criteria that most represents the issues that are important to me.

Conversely my vote for Trump most certainly wasn’t because he was a white male.

Abrams is totally unqualified and is a certifiable nut job. Let's hope that the people of Georgia aren't as stupid as she is.

Given the our current president, and noting he called her "unqualified," by which standard are you repeating that claim? It's arguable (not really) that if one thinks Abrams is unqualified, then so was the president.

Her views on issues important to me would be what disqualified her.
But in this current crop of.......:dunno: candidates who knows anymore.

I think her views suck. I wouldn't vote for her, but having crappy views doesn't make her unqualified. I take "unqualified," to mean lacking the ability, experience, and understanding to do a particular job.

"Unqualified" could extend to temperment, policy positions, and priorities. If I'm a gun manufacturer and needed a new CEO, I don't think someone with Shannon Watts' or Gifford's viewpoints would make them qualified no matter what their management skills are.

I see what Kut is saying. I would categorize your scenario as a disqualification for the position as opposed to being unqualified because a potential employer doesn’t feel that the applicant for the job shares their vision of what they want for the position they are looking to fill not that they wouldn’t have the management skills to do the job.

There could be a number of applicants that could be qualified to do any given job but ultimately are they the right person for the position.

Whatever. I did not know the President of the United States of America had suggested that Abrams was unqualified....we apparently agree with each other. If her team of armed thugs shows up at any of the polling places, I hope the local law enforcement dispatches them with extreme prejudice....like shoots them through the face. Then we'll see who is intimidating whom. It's crazy out there.

Sure, we're splitting hairs here but whether one is qualified or not depends on how satisfactorily they meet the stated qualifications for the job. A company may decide not to hire a highly renowned manager because he's a drunk, an embezzler, cheated on his wife, was caught with child porn, or simply holds values that are antithetical to the company's stated mission and goals. A single factor can render a candidate "unqualified" for a given position, even though s/he might be snapped up in a NY second by another with different standards.

For example, we've interviewed candidates for jobs who ticked off all the qualification boxes: education - check, experience - check, check, check, check... Ability to pass a drug check - no....disqualified for the position, candidate does not meet the stated qualifications for the job.

The objective qualifications for president, for example, are natural born US citizen who has an age at least 35, and a resident in the US for at least 14 years. Not sure what it is for governor of GA. It’s up to the people to determine what is “qualified” for office. Some people thought being a community organizer and a junior senator was enough qualifications to be president. It’s fair for each individual to pick characteristics that they see as qualifiers and disqualifiers. Some people think being a bat**** crazy social justice warring race baiting feminazi is a qualifier. With others it’s a disqualifier.

When it comes to public office and ideologically based policy proclivities, there the only objective criteria is eligibility, not qualification.

She is on record as opposing 2A. If elected, she will take an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States. How does that square?

Im sorry, I must have missed the story about Abrams having a team of armed thugs at polling places that need to be shot in the face. Link?

I think you're confusing "qualified," with "eligible."
