My friend plays indoor soccer at 34th and High School road (problem 1). He does this because he loves soccer and its the cheapest place around. Most of the teams there are Hispanic and his team is one of the only all white teams (and they are really good). Well, the game was getting physical and the ref was not saying anything. My friend was resting on the bench when 2 players got in a pushing match. Next thing he sees is a player from the other team come from behind and take a swing at his friend. This clears both benches. My friends, friend begins to run for the exit (he is a big guy, but out numbered) As he approaches the exit other Hispanics begin to enter the field from the stands. The situation just got a lot worse. Very out numbered. So my friend pulls his G26 from his book bag and enters the field keeping the weapon pointed down and breaks up the fight. He escorts the team to the concession area and waits for the cops. When the cops get there he unloads and places the weapon on the counter with his DL and LTCH. He told me the cops were pretty cool considering. They questioned him and after some time it was either take everyone to jail or no one. So they escourted one team out at a time. At this point my friend was talking guns with the cops as they walked them out and was given his gun back and went home.

At then end of the day everyone went home safe - win
The real question is if he should go back to finish the season. Before the cops arrived they were saying things like "we don't care who you bring we will f%%% you up" etc. I told him not to go back, its not worth it. they know he has a gun and their team is severely out numbered.

Not worth it. Find a new league. There was almost certainly at least one person there who will want to "teach him a lesson" next match. You ARE going to get messed with, so unless you get your team a bunch of ICE jerseys I would avoid the next encounter.

Definitely don't go back there again as the opposing team and fans will remember this incident and want to get back at you and your friends.

This whole "pack" mentality of fighting is lame. I remember growing up when you had a beef with another person, it was one on one and just a pure fist fight. If the other guy goes down, you back up. If the other guy stays down, you win. If he gets back up, you go another round.

Now, you have packs of thugs searching for easy targets. Sickening...

Glad it ended well. Would have been bad to bring a weapon into the mix and end up in a shootout over a game like this. I agree with not going back

Frankly speaking, I am shocked and amazed that your buddy's Glock was the only firearm there. I would suspect the opposing side had several within reach.

Could have been a real shootin' gallery I suppose. Glad it all worked out.

If he goes back, he's begging for trouble.

I would not go back for fear of retaliation, and everyone there knows he carries and where it's at. I don't see how he would be able to carry it on himself while playing.

I agree with not going back. Avoiding a disaster is the best bet and going back to that joint is just begging for trouble.

Sounds like the police handled the situation very well. +1 to them. There's been some cop bashing (rightfully so in some cases) so it's nice to hear the positive encounters as well.

I don't know if that'll do much good, most of the guys on the team this year are on the smallish size, 5'10" 185-200 lbs. :laugh:Indiana Ice - 2009 Tier One Champions

This is a good idea, along with not going back.
I play indoor at Indy Indoor Sports Park down on south Bluff Rd. Maybe a bit more expensive but a MUCH better class of people. Most play hard but in the end are there for the fun of it. Tell your friend to look into playing there. I drive from the far east side of Indy to play so I'm sure he is closer so distance should not be a concern.
