Gentrification is a self-supporting means of taking another incremental step towards hub / hive cities. The end goal is rewilding of the land outside of the hub cities and connecting corridors. By "self-supporting", the means of accomplishing the ends have to work within the currently existing political and economic paradigms.

It's like my nephew-in-law from South Africa once told me, that they do to cities here what they do to countries in Africa. Smart fellow.
But I still wonder why the heck he chose to live in DC. Oh well, he probably thinks I'm goofy for living on the corn tundra.

The Indianapolis Housing Authority had a program offered last year to employees of several local businesses that offered down payment assistance to staff purchasing homes in very specific [blighted] areas. There were also funds available to make exterior repairs of existing homes. The rules were relatively straight forward, the employee had to be in good standing, have been out of their introductory period, and live in the home for a specified number of years. There are a TON of absolutely beautiful old homes in downtown Indy! So many beautiful opportunities and short commutes to downtown and all it's amenities. I find myself contemplating it every time I have to roll onto the highway for a long drive downtown...wish I could afford to pick up an old craftsman and make it a beauty.

If one works for Red Gold and wants to purchase a home in Elwood, Orestus or Geneva Indiana, Red Gold will give them I believe its 5 grand towards the down payment.

You have 2 opposing viewpoints, but they both point back to the same root cause... being white is the problem.

There is an assault being waged today like I have never seen before. I should apologize for being white. I should give money and things to those who feel oppressed by me being white. I must make reparations for something that my distant ancestors may or may not have done. And if I don't buy into this whole movement, change my Facebook profile picture, and join in a protest downtown, then I'm a racist.

The crazy thing is that, like the people watching your video, people will nod their heads in agreement because that is what is expected of them. They never take a step back to analyze the propaganda, but rather they embrace it in all its inconsistencies and hypocrisy.

And that is the problem with society today. Sheep who can't think for themselves.

All of these folks that rant about racism in America need to travel around the world a bit and I would bet just after a short visit to***,, say Japan and get told a few times that they will not be served just because they are Americans will have an enlightening...

The completely opposing stances make sense only if you understand the central theme of critical race theory. Critical race theory is built on the idea that unequal outcomes is a result of a system of white supremacy which = racism.

If two kids take a test and one does better than the other, that's racism. It doesn't matter if one kid was in class every single day, took notes and studied for an hour each night while the other kid missed half the classes and never studied. People pushing critical race theory would claim that's systemic racism because they didn't get the same test score, all other factors be damned.

They'd say something like, black kids don't have reliable transportation to school and there isn't a parent in the home who could help the kid study, and those things are inherently racist. Anyone with half a brain realizes that there a number of factors that go into why one student might perform better on a test. Or why one family may be better suited to take on a mortgage and take care of a home. Or move out of the city because they took a new job, or because they want their kids to go to better schools.

I think most normal folks would agree that we'd like everyone, of any race, to have the same types of opportunities in life. Critical race theorists (and Marxists) want equal outcomes for everyone. Unfortunately, we all know that's impossible unless you bring high performers and successful people down to the same level as the lowest common denominator.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cri...cal race theory (CRT) is,race, law, and power.

Ah ha, so this is what United Way contributions go towards, silly me I thought it was to give aid to those that needed it.

Years ago when I was filling out paperwork with a new job the HR lady told me I need to check this box as it was mandatory that I give a minimum of 1% of my gross to United Way. I told her, she was confused.

My employer has asked it's employees to watch the new series from the United Way of Indianapolis called "Understanding the Roots of Racism".

The second in the series was in regard to Housing. There was a gentleman as part of the panel who's first name was Wildstyle (I don't recall his last name) and he was discussing something called "White Flight". This concept was presented as the act of white homeowners/renters moving out of housing areas when black homeowners/renters moved in. This was discussed at some length between the moderator and panelists before moving on to the next point - Gentrification. As presented in the forum, this is a real problem. Gentrification occurs when white homeowners/renters move into housing areas that are primarily occupied by what they described at black homeowners/renters. The panel explained that this causes property taxes and rents to increase and negatively affects those long term residents. I'd never heard of the term so I did a quick google search and the definition given is slightly different than the United Way presentation.

I found it very disconcerting that the previous point was that 'whites' moving out of an area was a terrible thing and the very next point was that 'whites' moving into an area was also an equally terrible thing. Am I missing something? I consider myself an active learner, critical thinker, and do appreciate hearing a variety of view points and life experiences. I am brought to a halt when there are discussion points that are sharply opposing stances offered by the exact same speaker within the same discussion panel. When everyone's heads were nodding in agreement to both points it causes me to take a step back. What am I missing? This is a championed by my employer.

I understand if someone has a career and you have to fly under the radar. But there has to be some way we can stand up against all of this BS. Oh there is, by re-electing President Trump by the largest margin in history. Also by teaching our kids that the lefts narrative is complete horse crap and intended to bring down our beautiful republic.
I watched a video of these 2 skanks assaulting a little boy and his mom over a MAGA or KAGA hat. It pissed me off. I'm gonna start wearing mine all of the time now. I wish a skank would try it.
Touch me or my kids and it's on. You wanna act like a man and throw punches like a man, and hurt little kids. I'll knock you the **** out.

They pulled that crap when the wife worked at the bank. She was not pleased as were sooooo many others that the bank offered comp time off to match the donations given. The spouse effectively bought week of comp time with pay. Now how does that work...???

We will have nothing to do with the UW or the Red Cross.

The best pay with Red Gold blue shirts is working in one of the plants maintenance departments, those guys push about 30 bucks an hour after a year or so. Its one of those places folks work a year or less or stay 35 years. My jury is still out if taking money from the Reicher family is a win or not. And I will add that they are easily the highest pay by and large in northern Madison Co.

i would agree to watch their propaganda if they would agree to give equal time to blockbusting tactics on the south and west sides of Chicago in the 50's and 60's. A quick wikipedia search should be a good start. I heard all about it from my parents as a kid. They lived through it.

When GM was humming in Anderson the United Way did a lot of things for the people of Anderson with GM employees money, specially the west side of Anderson. They rebuilt an old school on Madison Ave for the kids to use like a Boys and Girls Club.. Shortly after GM left all of United Ways programs kinna went POOF. That building now is a derelict POS that constantly has roofing metal blowing off and causing problems.
I'm not a donater? to them myself.

Only thing I can add to all of this is a strong reccomendation you never try and debate any of this head on.

It's like a deeply religious person arguing with a devout athiest that God exists or an avowed athiest arguing with a deeply religious person that God doesn't exist. The critical theory stuff in the end is a matter of faith. Statistics, argumentation, etc won't have any impact. The ones that support the position will be accepted and the ones that don't will be dismissed.

The only thing you can do is be alert for people starting to question it and then be open to talking to them when you see that. I wouldn't do that in a professional context for a thousand reasons -- just talking about in your personal life here.

To carry the religion metaphor a little further here -- for the Wokened there is no third position, no agnosticism. I'm a pretty extreme agnostic. I have no idea if God exists or not. I have yet to meet a religious person or an atheist who really has a problem with me saying that. They will certainly disagree, but I've never been attacked for it. For the woke it's for or against, full stop.

Being right won't matter in a professional context, so your frame of reference and goal has to navigating the waters. Pure pragmatism. Save the stands for out of work.

    **Edit
Peter Boghossian and James Lindsay have articulated the above ideas the most clearly and most rigorously. If you're encountering this stuff for the first time outside of social media, it's worth looking them up.

In particular, Lindsay's website newdiscourses is a really valuable resource for understanding exactly what you are dealing with. Think of it as a depth chart for navigating this stuff.

    https://newdiscourses.com/translations-from-the-wokish/

Before you dismiss the above link, scroll down to any definition's "new discourses commentary"

The first block of text is always what the woke mean in their own circles.

The commentary is plain language criticism and translation which is the "help you navigate this crap" part.
