You don't level the playing field.
You make people improve their skills and quit playing in the lower ranks.

But too many are content to do as they damn well see fit, complain and expect society to level the playing field.

    Pizz on em.

Entitlement mindset is the strongest form of slavery.

And the dems are leveraging the upset/unrest and BS optics to get stupid whites to fall for need of "change".

Blacks refuse to move themselves upward, so whites are moving themselves down.
Its horrible in the public school system.

And with such pathetic academics, and a crappy social culture (out of wedlock birthrate)...........you think those folks are gonna buy a house, or rent one and take care of it?

I do wonder, with the riots and covid, how urban renewal will fare.
According to several sources, folks are saying screw it and bailing from the cities.

So much for Occasional Cortex and other greenies "new deal".

More money gone from the cities.

My kid just moved from Indy, to get away from the crap.
    Just getting too dangerous.

    Love old architecture. Love character.
Even kinda beat up neighborhoods look cool.
    Always liked that stuff.

    Problem is the people.
    Some are A holes.

Screws up what could be good.

Personally I like the city, or the country...............the soulless suburbs............nope.

But to be close to stuff, and safer..............suburbs it is.

Gentrification is neat, as it saves a slice of what used to be.
IMHO there's just too much BS to try to preserve such islands.

Maybe after the purge we can spif up the cities again.

Indeed, but I was addressing this:
Which implies that the only means to level the playing field is with reparations or other equally offensive means.

The playing field can be leveled through many (non-onerous) means.

    Nobody I know does.

Let me add an after thought here...

Some have a problem with self-betterment...
They are the ones in .gov that state that people just can't do it without the .gov help.

I think that "level the playing field" has come to mean "level the outcome of the game". Nobody is guarding the sidelines or the end zones. Get on the field! But ya gotta get on the field to play, and you'd better bring your A game, whatever that means for you and your own aspirations.

I'm not quite caught up in here, but I do find it interesting to hear about all the different grants, etc. for buying in certain areas and fixing up houses. I experienced something similar as I qualified for some grants earlier this year when buying my house due to it being in a low income census tract. I wasn't even aware of it until the bank called me and told me I could apply. :dunno:

I understand concerns with people being priced out of their housing due to others moving in, but I also think many of the residents in these areas would benefit from more tax money being invested in the area. That only happens if people with a higher income level move in. It's an interesting conundrum with no good answer as it seems all possible solutions have a drawback.
