Were they able to prove the Earth was flat?

HK: Bowling Green was one of my original locations that fell through. Glad to see it was good there. Pretty surreal when it's happening, huh?

Wife and I viewed from cerulean KY a town of three streets. The local baptist church was providing free cold water restrooms and free hotdogs. 4 plus hours driving down with little trouble at all. 9 hours driving back made the trip less than stellar.

To see a partial is nothing even at 98 precent but totality was very cool. One more item off the bucket list.

Last night I went down to the hotel front desk to get something. Hoosier was checking in. Said he passed what he would estimate was a 50 mile backup headed north. So glad I got the second night. I expected the backups here; didn't expect them as bad on the interstates.

In exchange for that tidbit I helped him find beer by reminding him that KY isn't as backwards and you can buy it cold at the gat station on the corner.

My SIL and the grandkids drove down to Madisonville KY Monday morning, and enjoyed the viewing there. The traffic going in the morning was very light, different story coming home, but it still moved well. It was very surreal watching the sun blot out! We all enjoyed the trip and I am so glad I got to go see this.

Here is one during the eclipse:

    Great photo!!

My pictures weren't so great. And we weren't in totality, but I took my scope to my kids' school, and set it up w/ a smartphone as a viewer (school was concerned about the risk of looking through the scope). So I just used the smartphone camera.

... you can buy it cold at the gat station on the corner.

finally this thread is gun related! :) Can you also buy gats at the beer store? Sounds like just need tobacco sales and it's an ATF special...

Ha! Beat me to it. I was gonna say, "We call them 'gun shops' up here, but I've never seen a gun shop that sold cold beer too!" :):

My favorite part of this whole thing has been people concerned about protecting their pet's eyes....for the sake of all that is good and holy people, use the brain the good Lord gave you.

I don't think so, it's not so much the people are getting dumber, it's that the Internet built a Autobahn to these people.

So it's like an Express Lane for 40 IQ and Under?

That was real wasn't it??? It was not a spoof or just someone being silly....Wow...

We wish. Yes, someone really is that stupid. Or so deep into her socialist-statist religion that she thinks other people will believe it.

I'm thinking some of those original equipment brains need some warranty work.

I was only in the 87% range...but that generated a whole discussion on the principles of light distribution and why it didn't look like that. Good homeschool class day.

As soon as I saw that it was you replying to my post I was expecting you to say that you just got your liquor license for the shop! :): I was already coming up with ideas for a Mosin/Vodka display!

So many customers bring me bourbon in (as a gift) or tell me they are going to the liquor store and ask if they want me to have them pick up a bottle for me that it sometimes looks that way....:)

I know one day around Christmas there were three bottles lined up behind me in the little kitchen area lol.....

We too went just a little NE of Cerulean in an Amish hay field with hundreds of others. We stayed Sunday night in Henderson at a B&B and left for Cerulean Monday morning early. Traffic was very light which surprised us. We stayed for forth contact and then left and took a leisurely drive thru land between the lakes. No problem with traffic going back to Henderson at that time for us.

I knew what to expect after all the research, but it really doesn't prepare you for what you see. It all built up to totality which no picture or video can do justice to - you have to see it in person. It is unbelievable seeing the the corona of the sun behind the black hole of the moon in the sky. Anyone that wasn't in the path of totality had a good show, but ....
Didn't really try to take any pictures of the sky as I knew it was worthless with my equipment so I focused on the experience. Goods shots posted earlier in this thread and I have to say, there were some very serious photographers there with some very serious

Ours was about a 24 hour day. Left home at 4 AM Monday, got back home at 4 AM Tuesday. 7 hours to get there, 12 to get back. I57 was a parking lot after the eclipse - it took is 3.5 hours to go 27 miles. We saw shadow snakes! Totality was unexpectedly awesome, even after all the buildup and waiting since 1994.
The best I could do with a cheap camera, as i was busy looking around and being amazed:
