Is this worth anything? It's in pretty bad shape, but the wheels still move and the steering works. View attachment 326659
I've got a local mower repair shop that says they'll take it, but won't give anything for it.
I don't want or need it, but I don't want to give a treasure away if it has any great value.
It says Snapper Comet on the front cowling.
I know nothing if these things. But I do recognize the Snapper name.
Just wondered if this might be a collectable.
    Thanks for any help.
If they are happy to take it, its worth something or there is a part worth something.

Ran into this with an old player piano. A shop said they had a customer who wanted it but I would have to pay for them to move it. And they nor the customer were going to give me anything.

They were offended when I didn't take their offer.

Parts of it live on as a bench and a wine rack.

    Rest was scrapped.

    Also progress on the vehicles.
Had the Mustang towed to my nieces house so her son can rebuild it.
I gave it to him in exchange for getting the Blazer running.
He says all it needs now is a fuel pump, and maybe a couple of front end parts, but it looks to be drivable.
The van drove off under its own power!
After sitting for at least 2 years, I reconnected the battery cables after an overnight charge, poured some gas in the empty tank, and gave a quick shot of starting fluid into the breather, and, low and behold it fired up and ran!
Someone had cut off the catalytic converter so it was open exhaust.
A buddy of mine put some air in the tires and drove it 3 miles down the road to his mother's house.
This guy owns a full machine shop, but he runs a painting business on the side.
He expressed interest in the van for the painting business.
I told him to cut the handicap ramp out, since he doesn't want it anyway, and bring it back.
Title for the van is transferred to my name and I'm waiting for the title in the mail.
Lost titles for the Mustang and Blazer have been applied for and will be transferred to me soon.

This is one of the prettiest sights I've seen in a long time.
This is the plumbing rough-in drains for my new 3/4 bath upstairs!
When I bought this house it had one full bath, and that was it.
In just a little more time it will have 1 full bath, 1 3/4 bath, and a 1/2 bath.
Plans are for a stool, small vanity, and a 34"x 48" shower upstairs.
Managing to get a full 3" drain ran up there proved to be a challenge but I really didn't want to have to resort to a macerating toilet.
Now I won't need to worry about that.

Excellent. That looks like a tough location to plumb that assembly !

Not the easiest by a long shot.
I'm going to have to lessen the headroom in the stairway but there is sufficient room to do so without encumbrance.
The trick was to find the correct combination of 90°elbows in conjunction with 45° elbows to follow the wall chase created.
    Everything worked out though.

You know, new construction people would have just blasted a big ass hole through the joist, hide it with drywall, and call it good.
Yeah w well, I'm kind of old school that way.
I won't cut or even drill through a joist unless there is no other way.
I had considered a macerating toilet simply because it can drain through a 1" line or smaller.
I didn't want to have to worry about the toilet pump going bad, or drilling through the joist.
There is just barely enough room to go under the joists and still hide it in a lowered ceiling without negatively affecting the headroom.

    1,000 yards out
    And I found one!
Boy howdy did I find a mess, but this is a jewel in the rough (again), and just needs some TLC and a lot of spit and polish.

For those who read about my last fiasco bidding on property at auction (whole different thread), this situation is different.
I don't close for another 9 days, but this is a cash sale with no appraisal, no inspections, and no warranty.

I do this kind of thing for a living, so it looks different to me than it does to most.
    O.k. enough chit chat.
Some pics, and more details to follow. View attachment 297545 View attachment 297546 View attachment 297548 View attachment 297549 View attachment 297550
This house was built in 1920.
    3 bedrooms and 1 bath.
3.5+ acres accompanying the house, along with a huge chicken coop (must be 40'long) an orchard of some sort that I can't find through the undergrowth.
The last occupant went into a nursing home and passed shortly after.
The house has been sitting empty for 3 years and homeless have broken in and you can see what they did with the personal affects.

Yes, I have some work ahead of me, but I can see through the clutter.
Built in 1920, this place has plaster walls, and there's not a single crack in the aster, ANYWHERE!
Not one on any ceiling, walls are all smooth.
I can't see the floors, but I'm not concerned about that.
I'll deal with them once I excavate that deep.
This place had horses at some point and there is a small stable with 4 stalls.

I have about 3 acres between me and my closest neighbor.
    Three sides are farm fields.

I can't wait to get started...

Looks like you came across a good find!

Everyone I talk to, or sees the place, tells me the same thing.
That I am making amazing progress.
To me it seems like it's taking forever.

    I'm impatient.
    I want it done...
You may not have it done yet. But you are definitely getting it done.
