I can see them passing a shall issue permit, then allowing municipalities(Chicago) to preempt the state law with a local ordinance that makes it worthless.

I don't think it works that way in IL. As I recall with a super majority a law is immune to home rule.

I remeber a video of a pro-2A politician saying all deals for a compromised CCW were off the table, no may issue, no carve outs for Chicago, no carve outs for Cook Co., etc...

597 up for vote now, discussing amendments. Fingers crossed for our neighbors to the west.

EDIT: or not yet... Confusing! Commenters are getting antsy.

HB1711 was passed 94 yea, 14 nay, 8 present to be advanced. It basically says that politicians cannot carry a firearm without a CCW permit. :D Step in the right direction.

Politicians were becoming "conservators of the peace" by becoming sworn officers without the training and actually becoming an officer so they could carry firearms.

Amendent #9 just passed out of committe and this just made a couple tweaks to a good bill no significant change. This ammendment must be voted on and if passed then the bill can be voted on. The final vote could come today or be put off untill probably tomorow. Jim.

I just looked and the IL House of Representatives is 71-47 in favor of Dems and the Senate is 40-19 with Dems again holding the majority. I'm amazed 997 has any chance at all.

In Illinois it is not "D" V "R" it is basicly Chicago against the rest of the state. Rep. Phelps who introduced HB997 is a southern Ill. democrat. There was only one representive south of I-80 that voted against the last good carry bill. That is a Madigan stooge from Urbana. Jim.
