My understanding is Lifetime LTCH's remain and remain available - and work as reciprocity licenses - the 4 yr version simply becomes a 5 yr license (no change to costs) - to be compatible with what the recent "FIX-NICS - National Reciprocity" legislation currently shows - thus exempting the holder of one of these from a NICS check for the duration of said license.

As long as Lifetime remains - I'd still go for this. Rather wait 5-10-15 minutes for the occasional NICS; than pay how many hundreds of $'s over the rest of my life. - that is of course assuming the 5 yr No NICS thing remains and the Federal Gov keeps is big butt out of state rules and other infringements ...
Isn't that just an existing provision and not something addressed by H.R.38 or other versions of Fix NICS? In either case, I agree that I would just stick with the lifetime permit and wait the extra time for the NICS check.

Baby steps is better than impass.

precisely my point... but we must always hold the ideals in mind; they should be the guiding light (magnetic North...pick your favorite metaphor) for any steps taken.

This incrementalist approach has served the "progressives" well for many decades...

Sort of still that way...just have to wait on NICS, but there's no card required to purchase a firearm with the possible exception of your driver's license or other photo ID proof of who you say you are.

I fear you're not going back far enough... at least to hit the period of time to which I was referring. I meant the 'gooder' older days ;)

I meant NO card of ANY type... DL, ID... still government-issued cards.

Just wrote postcards to Bosma and Long.
Does anyone know if this bill will be assigned to the same committee as last year?
If it will, I will start writing the members of that committee as well!

We'll know on 3 Jan, but I'd guess the Public Policy Committee in the House. Rep Ben Smaltz is the Chair, he is on our side but knows we need to have everyone on-board. Jim Lucas is also on this committee as are a number of solid 2A supporters. All the "D"s get "F"s.

OK, I read this and got really irritated. Operation WRITE BOSMA II will ARC LIGHT the house speaker.

[h=1]Alcohol, guns and CBD oil – a few things to watch as the legislative session kicks off[/h]Handgun permits
This debate happened last session and is expected to ignite again.
The question will be whether lawmakers want to approve legislation that would allow Hoosiers to carry a handgun without a permit.
“I do know that law enforcement expressed grave concern last year and concern this summer,” Bosma said. “We want to make a sensible change, just not change for change sake. And I’ll be listening closely to the desire of law enforcement, and if they have grave reservations about a new course of action, it gives me grave reservations as well.”

    Very irritating indeed!
I am going to prep cards to send to the committee as soon as the bill is assigned!

Allow me to be frank: **** any "law enforcement" who have "grave concern" regarding the actions of law-abiding Hoosiers. Turn in your badge, and find a new line of work.

Maybe we should find a way to weave the phrase “grave reservations” into all the emails we send Bosma. Like maybe we have “grave reservations” about reelecting him.

Mr B has heard from me. The problem with him is if you look at the past elections he basically has no competition and would be difficult to turn out short of child porn on his laptop.
