INGO, here is the first look at the Shootrite AR-15 "Katana" from Tiger McKee.

It is an AR-15 with a Les Baer upper without the forward assist, a duckbill pistol grip, an A1 stock, Daniel Defense iron sights, Bravo Company's "Gunfighter" charging handle (medium), carbon fiber handguards with a rail mount at 11 for the light.

The weapon is very light (5.5 lbs) and balances nicely.

It is a welcome remedy to today's tendency to overload the AR and make it as lardy as an M1.

The weapon will be made by Red Jacket of custom AK fame and the uppers are sold separately. Thought INGO would like to see it before it hits the market.

I believe that Ive seen him use that AR on the TV show...?

Neat, kinda of an old school meets modern.... not my thoughts on a KISS AR, but still a nice rifle.

Will IS a fellow Jarhead.. & every firearm I have that he has built is straight forward, Combat minded... unless I have asked otherwise...
No bells or whistles... all pretty much meat a potatoes.. heavy on the meat.. Red meat....

Fixed stock, one less thing to do on certain malfunction drills.

However, Tiger does say that if he had a non-fixed stock, the Magpul locking stock (as I run) is the way to go.

Simple is good. Too many people buy an AR, and think they need to add everything that has the word tactical in front of it. Just my opinion, but the only thing I can see as usefull is optics and a light/light laser combo. The more you add, the more there is to fail and possibly throw the balance of the weapon off. I really like this setup, however I think it would be better suited as a 16'' pencil mid-length gas or a 14.7 permed carbine and something like a vtac rail/moe handguards

zsm, the carbon fiber handguards keep weight down. If you put a rail on it the Jaspers will hang all that mall ninja crap on it and lard it up.

If you must have an attached light (a good idea at times), the Katana comes with a rail for a light at the 11 o'clock position.
