I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the guy you rented it to is painfully aware that it's still standing. My guess is it's not the only corn he has that's still in the field. As mentioned above, you don't want him cutting ruts in your field and you'll get paid either way if it was cash rent.

My family just finished up last week. Today at Thanksgiving with the family, I heard about a couple of family friends who still have corn in the field. Weather happens and your guy can only do what the weather allows.

Down here in SW Indiana, the corn wasn't dry enough, and the farmers who were picking early were spending a lot on drying it out (propane).

Pretty sure all of these problems are 100% a result of global [STRIKE]warming climate change[/STRIKE] weather disruption. People are bad and animals are good unless they're the animals that people raise to feed other people, in which case they're bad too. Corn has feelings, so let it be free! Harvesting corn is murder. MURDER.

Corn survives harvesting, processing, meal preparation, and some survive consumption. Why else would I find nuggets in my pooper. :dunno:

Generally speaking, we have a huge yield this year. That means a lot more grain to harvest , haul, dry, and store. I wouldn't be too concerned, as it is still November. There is still a fair amount of corn to be harvested yet across the corn belt.

It was a funny year for most of us. Yields were good however the timing of rain is most likely the delay. Yours is not the only field still out.

The farmer with the corn field down the road from me just started harvesting it a few minutes ago. Same farmer has a bean field across the road that he still hasn't harvested. He always plants and harvested late though.

Judging by his rig I'd say he's got a smaller operation going. Hopefully he gets a decent yield

Bingo...most likely a part-timer. That age & size of combine is not run by full time farmers in today's world. Not knocking him but that also helps explain renting a 5 acre field and not being done yet. Kind of hard to tell by the picture but tires don't appear to be muddy...little surprising.
