Turns out the exercise crazy little fat boy is so concerned about, Dong Maeng 19-2, is a Command Post exercise...no movement of troops, no field exercises. Their reaction to it, "It is crystal clear that it is an actual drill and a rehearsal of war aimed at militarily occupying our Republic by surprise attack and rapid dispatch of large-scale reinforcements,"

The threats would be amusing if you couldn't tell you were talking with crazy people. Typical to their negotiating style they want to get something for nothing. The talks were about denuclearization of the crazy nuke happy Norks, the Norks keep trying to turn it into unilateral South Korean disarmament. The Norks will only feel secure in their insanity when they are no longer constrained by US and SK forces. The Norks never stop planning for war; SK has no choice but to reciprocate (well, there are bad choices...the kind Moon has made in the past).

In all likelihood they already have some new weapons that needed testing and were looking for any excuse.
Back in the day, the original evil Kim only would saber rattle during the big exercises like Team Spirit and Foal Eagle. UFL in August? He didn’t waste any saber rattling on it.

    Norks went ballistic overnight.

SS,DD from them. Looks like we're back to the old dysfunctional cycle.

Again, no blame on Trump for that. He tried something different, and it just doesn't appear to have worked.

I blame him, like I blame the guys before him. We KNOW North Korea isn't going to denuclearize nor stop firing off missiles. So yet another president is made to look like an idiot by the Hermit Kingdom.

IMHO, past presidents did the same things, knowing (or should have known) that the results wouldn't be any different. And they weren't.

Trump did try something different, thinking the result would then be different. It wasn't (or at least hasn't been). To me, there are points for creativity at least.

    Diplomacy isn't always a result-oriented endeavor.

Actually somehow blaming Trump for trying to denuclearize a nuclear threat is the only idiocy I see.

Trying to denuclearize a nuclear threat is sound logic. Try to denuclearize a nuclear threat that's also a tyrannical nation, through appeasement, IS idiocy.

Yes, obummer was an idiot to send appeasement aid to the norks. Trumps sanctions make more sense.

Sanctions are a joke and only hurt the people.

Kim keeps getting new armored Mercedes cars, rencently a fancy brand new Rolls-Royce, that he's not supposed to be able to buy with the sanctions.

As a troll move he even brings it to meet Mike Pompeo to talk about the sanctions.

    Huh? "Appeasement aid?"

Well, what would you call 240000 tons of food aid chief among other concessions in exchange for stopping weapons development at only one site (Yongbyon) leaving the other 15 or so development sites unrestricted - and the impetus being to craft the appearance of a response to a DPRK nuclear test

I suppose we should just be glad it wasn't $1.7billion in cash? Or Lebensraum?

Even obummer saw his aid didn't work so he started a new policy of 'do diddly squat'. This was perfect, it had no goals, no actions and no chance of achieving anything so he stuck with it for years.

Sanctions are a joke and only hurt the people.

You don't do business with evil regimes so they can look successful...sure the people suffer, they are being driven by an evil despotic communist regime. Socialism/Communism always ends in starvation and genocide; we have no moral requirement to delay their demise.

The North Korean people are suffering with or without sanctions. They would suffer even greater if a military conflict were to break out. Their suffering is completely at the hands of lil’ Kim.

    That's true.
I shouldn't have said that sanctions hurt the people, but that only the people are affected by them.

Kim could buy foreign luxury cars before the sanctions, he still can when sanctions designed to keep him from buying luxury goods are in effect.

Sanctions are not a joke. We should not sell anything, and influence everyone we know to do the same, to despotic regimes that want to rule the world through power and coercion. We shouldn't sell them weapons, cars or cheese. The harder we make it for them to reach their goals the better I like it.

Are their subjects disproportionately hurt? Sure. Just like the civilians were on the ground during WWII no matter which side was doing the fighting and bombing.

These are probably the weapons they were going to test because we had a CP exercise. They are probably expecting them to deploy to the units to use in the winter training cycle.

NK has never stopped preparing for war against SK.

While the missiles tests don't violate crazy little fat boys promise to Trump...it does violate multiple UN Security Council Resolutions that ban missile activity.
