I get the feeling this is just going to fade from memory, and no one will be held responsible.
Or end up like the case of the murdered teacher a couple years ago when they failed to get a conviction.
WLFI.com is reporting that it looks like the "person of interest" in the Ron Whiles homicide will survive the self-inflicted gunshot to the head.
Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll **** someone off in prison.
He is well known to the Lafayette police, and WLFI reported that he had 25 felony charges against him since 1996, including drug charges, domestic battery...also known to carry a firearm despite being a felon.
Evidently he got off of most of the charges.
What ever happened to the "Three Strikes" law?
Apparently our jails and prisons are too nice, as it seems that so many are willing to take their chances on going back.
Either that, or the chances are so slim that you get convicted and sentenced are so low that it doesn’t matter.
Sorry for the loss of your friend Mgderf.
We also need to pass laws that totally eliminate the possibility of 'concurrent' sentences. They commit multiple felonies, then they get sentenced CONSECUTIVELY for them.
SADLY, it's NOT ONLY the City of Lafayette. CRIME, including MURDER, Home INVASIONS have made it to the Heartland and PCness Rankles Me when the POLICE are DISCOURAGED from Enforcement by Mayors, City County Councils and Cheesey Do Nothing Chiefs of Police. Buford Pusser, Where are YOU Now?
This all goes back to parents raising crap kids.
More accurately, parent kinda being around while the kids get older.
Locking up more people sure, when it's important to do so, but jail isn't the answer.
The original post was about a members' friend who was shot and killed and his associate who was stabbed multiple times. You don't think jail is the answer??? What thread are you reading, my friend?
Oh, I know.....let's just put an ankle bracelet on them, give them house arrest and 6 months probation. That'll teach'em.
That's 15 yards for getting angry about the subject of the OP when the OP subject hasn't been the specific topic for many, many posts.
