Just picked this beauty up today at Four Seasons here in B-town. Springfield Armory 1918 manufacture (SN in the 800,000 range), barrel dated May 1918.

Not yet, but hopefully within the next week or two. Would be nice to gather more ammo for it before then, but .30-06 is hardly cheap...

Time to load your own! I load M2 ball for my M1 garand and 1903A3. Can do it for half the price if not a bit better using pulled 147gr FMJ's (M80) from 7.62nato. They shoot great out of both types of rifles!

I built the first gun a few years back. Gave it to a friend for Christmas this past year. Here's one I finished for my grandson and gave it for his Christmas this past year.

My .45 cal percussion cap rifle. It's marked "Dikar Spain" on the barrel. I bought it used and hope to be shooting it soon. :rockwoot:

    My first rifle =)

It was between a savage and a marlin, the bolt action on the marlin felt more smooth than it did on the savage, also the savage has aggressive checkering, which is great if you are wearing gloves, but i dont wear gloves when shooting, i really didnt like the feel of it, but the marlin xt-22 had some light texturing (not checkering) which provides a little bit of grip, and is comfortable on the fingers. I took it to kodiak range today and put about 250 rounds through it, not one hickup. at first the bolt was a bit snug, but after 50 rounds was feeling perfect. My only issues with this rifle is the front sight post has a dab of white paint on it, and it is not bright at all, so i dabbed on some white nail polish and now its bright and can be seen much more clearly. Also where the safety is "Safe" and "Fire" are not legible at all, so i again used nail polish (my wife started wondering why i wanted her nail polish) and put a few coats of white on "safe" and a few coats of red on "fire" now it can be read easily, and with the colors you can very quickly differentiate safe from fire. The stock was surprisingly comfortable, i dont think i am going to change it to a wood stock. it only comes with one 7 round magazine, i would like to pick up a few more down the road, and there are points built in to add a sling, so i picked up a sling today and put it on, all in all i am really really happy with it. i was looking for a vintage single shot or multishot rifle at the indy 1500 on friday, i didnt find any under $300 that were in really good shape, and now im glad i didnt find one, the trigger on this xt-22 is so great, no play, nice and crisp, and overall the gun has some nice features i wouldnt find on a vintage rifle.

Speaking of muzzleloaders, here's my 20 gauge Virginia fowler. Yep, it's a southpaw gun.
