Thanks for posting the Embassy photos, they are good. Sylvain-quality even!

I had to study the one of the flags for a moment. I knew all but one instantly....but that one....ah! The Poles!

    Thanks.You are too kind. :)
The official photographer could go places I couldn't.
The security staff was very friendlythough, and I got to quite close and still managed to take over 300 (mostly good) pictures.

Yeah, that cemetery has a couple of Polish graves.
I believe one Indian and one Australian as well.
The rest are mainly Canadian and French.
The UK and US have their own cemetery farther away.

You truelly understand how it was a wolrdwide war when you see the different nationalies.

Very nice pics Sylvain. I feel like I'm there.

    Thanks TT.
The most moving thing was the speeches and the prayers.:)
I wish I could have recorded a video with audio instead of just taking pictures.

I hope to cover a similar ceremony that honors US veterans in the future.

I hope so too. I always look forward to these threads.

I tried to cover one a few years ago but there was too much high profile politicians (US, French and Russian president) that it was impossible to get anywhere near the event.
You needed special credentials just to get hundreds of yards away from the vets, behind barricades.
You had to park your car miles away too.

There I showed up at the last minutes, parked my car 30 yards from where the event took place, and was able to walk all the way to the Minister of Veterans affairs and other "VIPs" without having any pass or going thru security screening.

    No barricades either.
At one time I was standing right where the Canadian minister was supposed to stand for a speech, one of his bodyguards just politely asked me if I could move back a little.
I would have been tased and tackled to the ground if it was the US president instead. :):
