    Thanks, Frenchie!

I spent the day down in Columbus, IN. My father in law is a recently retired radio guy who MC's the annual Memorial day ceremony at the Bartholomew Co veterans memorial plaza next to the courthouse. We take our kids every year so they understand.

Its a neat place. the pillars are awe inspiring, and the letters from the soldiers inscribed in the limestone are moving.

(my 7YO learned a valuable lesson too. "Dont run along the bench surrounding the fountain! You might lose your footing and fall in!" "Its OK!, I'm fine!" *SPLASH* Thankfully we carry a spare change of clothes in the van)

James Parmelee, for whom I am named. My Dad's cousin:

    1941-1965

2nd Platoon, Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.

"At approximately 2125H, while 2nd Platoon was in their night defensive position, a fire mission was requested. A mortar battery fired a 4.2 mortar round that fell short and landed in the CP area, of 2nd Platoon, 5 kilometers west southwest of the Nam-O Bridge, near Da Nang. Lt Parmelee and 2 other Marines died as a result of their injuries."
