The latest little "fun gun" added to my collection. H&R .32 Autoloader.

I love all my little .32's.
I have, in no particular order,
    Colt 1903 .32acp
    Savage 1907 .32acp
    Bersa Thunder .32acp

    The Bersa I bought new.
The Colt I traded for, and the Savage I bought used.
None are museum pieces, but all are shooters.

    DDaddy,
That is a neat looking little piece of history.
The fixed sights tells you it was more or less a "belly gun", for up close and personal work.
The 3/4 slide looks funky to me. Throw in the over-sized trigger guard and it almost looks like a toy.

I like it, but I think it's ugly in form.
    Wasn't H&R American made?
The style looks more European to me.

Yes, the H&R is American made, but it's basically a copy of the Webley & Scott 32 auto pistol, but striker-fired instead of the exposed hammer.

And the trigger guard is part of the take-down mechanism.

My budding collection. Starting from the upper right and moving clockwise:
Ortgies (the one that started it all)
    Mauser 1914
    CZ-50
    H&R 32 Automatic
    And center - Beretta 81

Cool. Looks be be in nice shape too.
Since you’ve brought up your softness for 32’s, have you seen these? I’m on their email list. I thought about buying one but I really need to hold up on my caliber proliferation. :)

Believe it or not, I just saw this thread, and was intrigued by the Beretta 81 with the 12 rd. capacity.
I'll have to check to see if they still have any for sale.
I'll need to look up the dimensions.
I love a small pocket gun, but it probably is bigger than the Ruger LC9 that I had and enjoyed, but it was replaced by a Sig 938.
I have a Beretta Tomcatt tip-up barrel .32 acp that I love (Inox) wonder how a Beretta 81 would fit into the mix.

    81FS CHEETAH
The 81FS Cheetah is Identical to the 84FS model, but it is chambered in .32 ACP.
    Action Single/Double
    Barrel length (in) 3.8
    Magazine 12
    Overall heigth (in) 4.8
    Overall length (in) 6.1
    Overall width (in) 1.4
    Sight radius (in) 4.9
    Weight unloaded (OZ) 24.2

I don't know that I'd consider the Beretta 81 to be a "pocket gun", although I suppose it could be, in a winter coat. Seems a little heavy for pocket carry to me, but certainly pretty easily concealed.

Well said: after research and comparing its size to others I've had or currently have, I'm going to pass on it.
It is more of a "history" ownership and not something to replace current offerings.
It does appeal to me, that is why I had 3 different SW gen 3 items that I dearly loved, but made the decision that I wasn't going down the collector avenue.
I justified keeping just 1 for a house gun, but as I continued trimming and then going down the .22LR rifle road, I couldn't keep up with that direction.
But, it was fun researching it last evening! :)

Yep, these are strictly collector pieces/range toys for me. Most (so far) have been relatively inexpensive and are just fun to plink with.

Fyi, just got an email from sgammo. They have 1,000 round cases of Fiochi 60 gr HP .32acp for $229.

I saw that! That's a great price. I was just a little leery of getting that much JHP. I know my Ortgies, Mauser and Beretta have no problems with HP ammo, but I still haven't tried out the H&R or the CZ. But yeah, 24.3 cents a round (after shipping) is cheaper than the cheap FMJ plinking ammo.

Same here. I only have one .32 acp, (Beretta Tomcat Inox) so I don't need 1000 rds. of it.
    I buy mine at $17/box (w/tax) as needed (.34 cents/rd.)
    Once, when I was function checking a .32 acp, a range wanted $34/box (w/tax) which is .68 cents/rd.
    Needless to say, I waited.
