Nice car. I had a gen 2 Miata. Okay, but too slow. I would have liked a S2000 better but they were out of my price range at the time.

Now, I'm looking to old school V8 muscle for a possible "retirement" vehicle.:)

Your's is really nice looking. And no, you should not put black wheels on it. It would totally ruin the look.

    You can have both!

    That's a convertible... not a roadster.

    Nice machine!

    1. Really?!! I warned someone I'm not stupid about cars so don't be trying to pick at my like about guns.
    2. You err, my brother:

I considered that when I had mine. Also considered adding a turbo but decided in the end not to put that much money into it.

    1. I have had friends drop 10s of 1000s into a car in S2KCA and tell me if they had to do it all over again they'd do what I did: drive stock!
    2. Still like to have that 4.77 rear end, though!

I don't know what the first and second gear ratios are on that car, but I'd think a 4.77 would provide a strong launch!

Dad had a ‘91 Miata with a ZZ3 (Chevy 350) in it for awhile. Sucker could scoot once it was running right. It was a basket case when he got it. If I won the lottery, a clean 95-97 Miata would be on a trailer headed to Flyn’ Miata for their LS376 (525hp/489lb-ft) conversion. I could blow through the better part of 60k really quick for that conversion.

doodg - Having seen it in person, it truly is a beautiful S2K. Love the color!

very nice looking car. I recently inherited a 2001 Miata. It's had 2 trees fall on it. It's ugly but it runs fine. It could really use a 6th gear. It's turning 4k on the highway.

That’s typical of the 5-speed boxes. Entertainingly, the 6-speed doesn’t make it much better. Mazda our 6 gears in the same ratio spread that 5-speed had, though the 6 speed gets a lower rear differential gear to offset the gearbox.

Nice S2000. A buddy has one and it's gone from stock to crazy to pro mod.

Here it is before he went wild with it.

    1. I've never understood why a person would choose a Honda S2000 for short race runs: it was meant to be a car for the "curves."
    2. What is cool about it is that if you drive fairly normal, I get 25 mpg all the time in normal going back and forth to work (Corolla gets 30 mpg).
    3. On the highway traveling (rarely used that way) I have gotten 28-30 mpg (30 when driving 55 mph and keeping my foot out of the "turbo"/Vtec (Corolla used to get 40 mpg, now down to 38 mpg).
    4. I got 18 mpg racing around curves in a drive with friends once (do this couple of times a year).

...the 6 cylinder Mustangs are really fun...

    Said NOONE, EVER!

I had a 2011 Mustang V6 Premium. That 305hp 3.7 V6 is a damn strong motor. It was a fun little car. The only difference between it and the GT is the sound, about 1 second in the 1/4 mile and the hit to your bank account. It's a good option for someone on a budget, whether they can't spend the extra money for the GT or just don't want to.

Anything before 2011, and you have to get the GT, though. The old 4.0 V6 belonged in a Ranger, not a Mustang.

I was told by others who know cars that the V8 was not necessary for a normal person as compared to the 6, b/c the 8 was over-the-top, which some need, but not people like myself.

Just like riding in my friend's C-7 that had a supercharger in it this week: 650 hp fun, but not necessary for a normal person who can settle for 450 hp and be happy.
My roadster has only 240 hp: but I'm poor and can't afford more hp.

Can't have too much power in my opinion. And some can be happy with a 4 or a 6. I could be if properly set up in a small car. Mustangs and Camaros must have a V8 if I am going to own it. Almost a full second diff on 0-60 is a lot.

Plus, like Route 45 says, the sound is different and for me that would be enough. If I was closer to finished with my home reno I'd seriously be considering a Bullitt version 'stang right now.:)

Low weight trumps power for everyday for me. I can take advantage of the handling that low weight improves more often than I can power from a V8.

My wife’s Buick has the biggest motor and the most power of the three we own, it has a whopping 260hp from its 2.0 Turbo. My Abarth and Miata combined might make it 280HP.
