    One wonders how manufacturing a new class of felons is going to work out. A conviction isn't much of a problem for a real criminal, but for a demonized gun owner, a good job and normal life are gone forever. Is it much of a stretch to suppose such a person might decide that if he is going to be a felon, he might as well go all in and take out some of the other team on the way down?

    Funny and scary that I was thinking the same thing. What if one group of uniformed civilians decided to follow the law to the letter, and knowing someone owned those baby killing mags, decided to make a show by taking him/her down, and that person decide that since they were going to be a felon, might as well BE A FELON in a big way. I know how the media would spin it, but could it cause others to come to the defense and all 1700s Massachusetts take place?

What if one group of uniformed civilians decided to follow the law to the letter, and knowing someone owned those baby killing mags, decided to make a show by taking him/her down, and that person decide that since they were going to be a felon, might as well BE A FELON in a big way. I know how the media would spin it, but could it cause others to come to the defense and all 1700s Massachusetts take place?

    Another thing I doubt they have considered is that probably their biggest threat will be older people who are past the point of considering life in prison a credible threat.

    Well, as long as those people are not complicit.
    The amount of people willing to give up their rights, or report on their neighbors, seems to be growing everyday.
    And hearing what is being taught in schools, I worry.

    That wasn't the goal, nor the force committed in afghanistan. But point taken: that's not the goal nor the force committed regarding gun control either.

    I don't remember reading it, but it certainly does make sense. It was probably in relation to bumpstocks. A bumpstock is pretty obvious when viewed externally. An internal modification that creates a genuine machinegun is much less obvious to the casual observer.

    My posts are among those you may be inferring. As for myself, I am simply addressing the plain truth that people who are banished from respectable society, decent employment, and so forth have little disincentive for going all in and most likely being significantly more dangerous than your run of the mill hoodlum.
