Honestly, the last thing I think of when someone mentions Lake County is anything agricultural.
It is one of the most populous counties in Indiana.

Looks like there are alot of dolts posting that the ordinance sounds reasonable based on the 1000' proposal and it doesn't ban all shooting. What they seem to be ignorant of is the part about having to have AG zoned property and a zoning exemption for a range based upon approval of the zoning board which I think would be an uphill task to obtain that approval based upon political whim.

Seems like an ordinance outlawing shooting in streets and alleys in Hammond, East, Chicago, Gary, etc. would save more lives.

those places already have no firearm discharge laws on their books. this one is coming up as a result of city folks moving to southern lake county where those "southerners" shoot more often, abiet sometimes foolishly, and them northern transplate being scared of gunfire.

I think you missed the implied purple in HoughMade's post.

What I took from it was this.
    1. They were passing whatever they wanted.
    2. It went from 1,000 to 700.
    3. If you get a written statement from your neighbor it can be 0 feet from their dwelling.
    4. There is a berm requirement.
    5. If you are going to shoot on your property you must have a special variance from the BZA to do that.
    6. Next month they try to get 4 & 5 removed.

If it comes to Lake, it will come to Porter.
