Friday is the best day to attend. If you see a deal you better pounce on it. Cause it will not last the entire show. Bring your own drinks and snacks, cause green hot dogs & soggy pretzels don't cut it.

Unless your sleeping under the bridge on Fall Creek you don't need to bring a huge 3 day back pack. If you do make sure you remove the INGO patch so people don't associate you with the rest of us.
Leave the stroller in your minivan, it's a gun show not the zoo. Well not that kind of zoo.
Don't stop in the middle of the isle to hold a reunion with your long lost shooting buddy.

Ok, so I want to go to the Indy 1500 here in a few weeks. I have never been to it before. I would appreciate any tips on attending and/or buying at the show. My schedule will only let me attend on Friday at this point.

    Thanks

here's a tip: skip it and go see Mark at Bradis or Bob at PSS. :yesway:

And miss the adventure of a lifetime? Possibly see some history, some great deals that can't be found any where else and not to mention "Pig Pen" from the Peanuts.

If you get there at 2:00 on Friday when the show opens expect to stand in line for an hour to get in. If you get there at 1:00 you'll be closer to the front of the line, but you'll still stand there for an hour.

I've found that the line is mostly gone by around 4:00-5:00. But then you aren't the first person in the door.

Yes, last year I arrived just before 2PM and stood in line almost an hour to get in the door. When I left between 4-5PM, there was no line (after saying this there will probably now be a line at 5PM).

I usually go with a friend from Indy. I have been 4-5 times and here is what I can tell you:

-Don't leave your entry fee coupon at home. It does no good there
-They will have you park on the opposite side of the fair grounds
-Don't leave your wallet in the car. It makes it hard to buy stuff.
    -Bring cash
-Bring something (backpack) to put your goodies in.
-If it is raining, bring something to cover a long gun if you buy one
-As some one else mentioned, look for the guy in the skirt. My friend and I usually make a game of it.
-Give yourself at least 4-5 hours to look around at all the tables
-Look at all the tables before you buy something
-Punch your friend when you ask him to remember what table something is at, and he replies "sure, it is the table next to the flag"
-Don't go down the aisles with 7 other people and stop at every table clogging traffic
-Ammo is heavy when you buy a lot of it (who knew, right)
-If you are looking for something specific, know your prices

That is all I can think of right now. Good luck and have fun!
